DMT Freeze Precipitation Question.

Hello,

I'm new and this is my first question, i really hope it's not being asked before, but i couldn't find any answers to it so i decided to ask it here.

Hopefully i'll find an answer.

The question is, if i collect my naphtha (with crystals) it's best to keep it as concentrated as possible for the crystals to properly form.

What is the reason for this?

And if i use a flat container instead of a jar, so that the naphtha is spread over a bigger surface will this have the same effect (easier for the crystals to form) as if i would've vaporized the naphtha in a more concentrated form first, or is it just really important that the DMT in the naphtha itself is more concentrated?

Im Not 100% Sure What Exactly Your Asking, Just dont over complicate things, Just Pour the Crystalized Nap On a Flat Dish Like Normal, Well Retrieving Separate Pulls i Find It Best To Store The Pulls ( IN A JAR ) in the Frezzer ( Helps Crystalize ) then Pour the collected nap Over a Few ( Say 5 ) Glass dishes. If You do it in a Jar The Nap Wont Evaporate Completely n Youll have run off nap ( Containing DMT ) n Then its just a mess and youll have to save and evaporate the remaining nap.

YOU WANT THE LEAST AMOUNT OF NAP ON A DISH WITH AS MUCH SURFACE AREA SO THAT THE THE NAP CAN EVAPORATE LEAVING DRY CRYSTALS BECAUSE THERE WILL BE LITTLE TO NO NAP WHEN REMOVING IT FROM THE FREEZER.

Higher concentration means a higher percentage of the dissolved DMT will precipitate.

I'm not sure what you mean here. The shape of your container will not make a difference in terms of how much DMT precipitates. Using a flat, wide container will make it easier to scrape all of the crystals out after you pour off the solvent though.

There are many reasons it is better to have a more concentrated solution. The first reason is that you inherently use less solvent, saving you money and solvent. Second reason you want it to be as concentrated as possible is so that you will have more dmt fall out of your solution when you put it into the freezer. If there is too much solvent and not enough DMT then you wont see any DMT fall out of your solution. Another reason is that if you were to need to evaporate it it, you are evaporating less solvent which is better for the environment.

There are a couple things you need to consider when you are choosing between a jar/pan and what size pan you want to use. No matter what you use to freeze precipitate you need to make sure it has a lid or is in some sort of container that you can seal closed. If you leave the container sitting open in your freezer then you are going to contaminate your food with solvent, and I can tell you from personal experience that food does not taste good when it is laced with solvents. When you use a pan having a larger surface area is only good up to a point. if your surface area is too large and you dont have enough DMT in your solution, than instead of your DMT forming into crystals, its just going to form a thin dusty layer of DMT onto the bottom of the pan. I'm pretty sure most of us here that use pans prefer to use the small square ones. Those seem to do the trick perfectly. If you have too little of a surface area(which will never happen if you use a pan, only a jar) is that you will have decent amounts of solvent trapped inside of your crystals. Very unhealthy.

I've always used jars, but i've read that you want a more concentrated form of naphtha before putting it in the freezer, i thought the reason for this had something to do with the way the solution is spread.

I'm sorry, what i mean is, do i have to let some of the solvent evaporate to half of it's volume before putting it in the freezer, or is this not necessary?I've read about some people doing this so the crystals form better.

A jar has no wide surface or at least not as wide as a plastic box, so i figured if i'd put it in a flat container, like a plastic box, with a lid, the naphtha would be spread in a thin layer, and crystals would more easily form.

I was probably overcomplicating things like ThereBlesser said, but i saw some logic in it.

What i do is, i collect the naphtha in a separate jar each pull and put it in the freezer for a few days, then i pour the solution through a coffee filter and let the crystals dry, the naphtha that's left i use again, or throw away.

But i understand that i should evaporate it down to half of it's volume before putting it in the freezer?

This is how most people do it i hope?I've always done it like this, except for the part where you evaporate it down.

I also use one ml. naphtha for each gram of Mimosa, should i use less or is this just right?

You don't need to evap by half...just use less solvent.
50ml is ample for any pull, no matter the size of extraction.
(you may need to transfer to a tall, thin vessel for a re-pull if it is spread thin over the base soup)

(30ml of hot naphtha can hold at least 1gram of solute)

Save and reuse all your naphtha, don't waste it.

Hey, thanks Cyb!

I have to admit, i didn't experiment with different teks, i just stuck to the one that worked for me, same with the proportions, i learned to use 100ml naphtha for 100gr Mimosa and just stuck to that.

If 50ml naphtha can hold 1gr i don't see the point of using 100ml, or is there a different reason 100ml was advised?
I just roll the vessel for 15 minutes, taking a small break every 5 minutes to let it separate again.

This will make me save both naphtha and time.

Evaporation speed is directly proportional to the surface area that is exposed to air.
This is why people use trays to speed up reducing the volume of naphtha, so the concentration of the solution increases.
As far as I am know...if you covered two solutions of the same concentration (one in a tray, another in a jar)... they should precipitate similar amounts of DMT over the same duration as one another.
Would be an interesting experiment, if someone was bored.

Please don't use plastic. Naphtha can degrade most household plastics, which could contaminate your final product. Use glass instead.

I prefer to use a glass baking dish for freeze-precipitation, simply because it is much easier to recover the crystals. Otherwise, the shape of the container (i.e. jar v. flat dish) in which you freeze-precipitate will not make much of a difference.

I would strongly suggest you just get a glass dish with a lid. Tin foil will not create an airtight seal, so a lot of fumes will still escape into the freezer.

Yes, i thought that would be a problem, i would've covered it with plastic foil as well, but it seems a little messy.

If you cant find a lid then double cling wrapped tight with a rubber band will work. But make sure you are able to get it off quick because as soon as you take it out and the temp rises the crystals dissolve again very quickly.
