dmt smell?

Okay so I just finished extracting my dmt, currently its in dmt fumarate form (does this affect smell?) and I've been told dmt smells like plastic. However I don't think mine smells much like plastic, I have two batches and one is very light tan colour and the other is very white crystals. they both smell almost like a car wash, could this be a contaminant?

Plastic, car wash, burnt rubber, it's hard to describe, really. Car wash sounds right, but no one can really confirm without smelling it.

The car wash smell is simply from residual limo. Freebase DMT will taste and smell like plastic only when burned in the process of smoking. It's smell on its own is simply something you become familiar with.
Your colors sound correct...if the yield is approximately what you were expecting, chances are you have dmt fumarate. Congrats

DMT has a typical sweet indole smell. I think it is pretty close to the smell of totally new shoes.

but dmt fumarate does smell differently than freebase dmt.. I guess limonene residue could be part of that smell you have.

If you did the process correct, then for sure its dmt fumarate

I think limo-extracted fumarates smell very sweet... like candy... Sweet Tarts... Tang... or something.

Or maybe that's just because I'M SO SWEET. :twisted: It's a lovely and distinct smell when burned, too.

okay, I was just worried that the car wash smell could be from rust inhibitors from my naphtha or something. Although I don't know how they'd get through the salting AND freebasing if they were even in the naphtha to begin with :S I freebased some and when burnt it has a distinct plastic smell. much different from the sweet car wash smell of the fumarate.

dmt freebase smells like magic!! i smell it froxen and it smells lke an oily inscence but smoked smells if moth balls were tasy! and my bong that i use, OMG i know know why it is called spice! it smells of the spicy horseradish smell! i love it. it smells so good it was sitting by my bed loaded and i swear it affected my dreams. i also had a lucid dream that i woke up not realizing that i was realy awake so i got up and grabed my bong loaded and smoke the hell out of it!!!! well i was not dreaming at all hahahahaha! woops i have never broke though like that befor ei was convinced i was dreaming! well that will be posted on the trip report form for sure!!!

Yeah I think it has a more unique smell than just plastic. very hard to describe.

Its funny how "burning plastic" is what we associate the taste with.
Whenever Ive smelt burning plastic, it always smells much harsher.
Spice has a sweet taste imo.

Now I've infused some pau d'arco and mullein with my dmt (for some reason some of it didn't seem to fully dissolve in my 99% ipa, could it be a contaminant? I used 70% ipa and it seemed to work, which leads me to believe this) and the car wash smells is more subdued but it smells almost like sweet toothpaste. Maybe I'm being paranoid :S
