Quick question , I've just made some fresh , wondering whever to clean it or not .
I've been making DMT for many years , once it comes out of freezer and the crystals dry out fully ,
it's always lovely fluffy and white/ivory colour , never found the need to treat with heptane or clean with
something like bicarbonate soda?
I just chop it up extra fine to help expose more of It to air to help make sure all is evaporated away ,
and leave for a few weeks in glass , airing occasionally.

Are people over complicating a simple process or Is residue a thing? something to be concerned about ?

It's a matter of what level of technical accomplishment went into the product, and since it sounds like you know what you're doing and presumably haven't been getting sloppy, there doesn't appear to be any need to make additional work for yourself unless you fancy trying out re-x or mini A/B for fun or as an academic exercise.

If your material is smooth to use, and your materials - particularly the solvent - are of good quality, things seem fine as they are. Or was there something specific about a recent batch which gave rise to this question? Often it's good to follow an especially strong intuition, as well.

Hi thanks for the reply , yes technique is good always supper smooth , especially when smoked right .
Before I became part of this wonderful nexus community it was just me myself and I 😊 ,
so I did that I thought was best and worked .
Now there is a lot more info out there , just wondering if cleaning is necessary, and if you all do it? .

It's not necessary. One of the official studies found that DMT extracted from MHRB with typical teks is over 95% pure right off the bat.

I personally enjoy handling cleaned up crystals tho. They're not sticky, dusty, or waxy. Flows like sand, has no smell, becomes translucent. Mostly the smell can throw off my pleasure if it's too crude.

Hi thanks , I agree with that , just like Transform mentioned if it's done correctly there is no need .
My recent batch was using A/B tek , this time I decreased temp to just 45 degrees, and I used very minimal lyle
at least 50% less , keeping it around 10-12 PH.
It came out more translucent, and had little if any mothballs smell ?

Sounds great - those are the parameters determined to have the most impact on colour and aroma. Were you following "minimum polymer" protocol?

No I don't really follow a protocol, but if I'm understanding correctly 😊 I try to minimize polymers by keeping the temperature below boiling , using minimal amount of Lyle, agitating as little as possible and keeping the naphtha clean and fresh and not leaving it in the solution to long.

But I do keep pulling over the next few days , reheating, adding a little more Lyle, over agitating and leaving naphtha in over night . These pulls aren't so clean , lots more polymers ? Yellow orange , little goo and waxy.
I call it second grade but to be honest I still can't decide if it makes the experience better or worse?
