Do You Get Visual Trips?

Do you tend to get visual-heavy trips? I've been searching around and there seems to be pretty wide variation in how intense the visuals people report on psychs like LSD and psilocybin are.

Myself, with the exception of DMT, have never had a psychedelic experience I would characterize as visual, and this is over the course of one LSD trip, and many mushroom trips with mid to high range doses. The closest I ever seem to get is that colors seem brighter, my vision is more high definition, and in one memorable case, I saw some kind of pattern in the arrangement of sticks on the ground.

I absolutely get the 'mindf*ck' experience: all the emotional intensity and cognitive weirdness is there, but never once have I seen the fractals overlaying things or the walls melting or anything like that.

In other threads, I've seen it suggested that, for some reason, people with OCD might be less likely to have visual trips? I have struggled with OCD in the past, so I wonder if that's part of it.

(I have gotten pretty wild visuals from cannabis, some of which included gophers made of rainbow light precipitating through the ceiling).

What about you? Are you a visual tripper?

Strange that you mention this.
I've tripped countless times on Lsd & mhshrooms, & i have only had a few intensely visual trips from them.
One was a breakthrough type experience with LSD.
I've tripped mentally with mushrooms many times but i find it hard to get visuals unless i have some really potent mushrooms & push the dosage to my limits.
Dmt is the only thing that gives me intense visuals every single time i use it aside from aya with low dmt dosage.

I've only ever had dramatic visuals on the first ever Psilocybin trip.

I think we dosed around 3 grams per person of dried mushrooms. The back yard was morphing around the fence looked purple, patterns overlaying walls (opaque). Had a really good experience.

I've never been able to get back there though. Every other mushroom trip I laugh my head off and get to some interesting mental places but no crazy visuals. I always have geometric opaque overlays on walls and carpet "breathing", but that's a lot of it. Red and Green colors are much more pronounced than every other color. People have often told me they see 'x' character, being etc. I always assumed they were making it up as I've never gotten to that point.

LSD is pretty similar for me, takes me to some great mental places but visually nothing spectacular.

I'll get pretty good closed eye visuals on DMT. Fractals and patterns that will multiply and divide exponentially, but never anything that cuts across into open eye visuals. If I break through its like I've lost consciousness and enter a dream state with a story. I 'wake up' from it.

4-AcO-DMT was interesting, that gives me some pretty warped and well out of aspect visuals but it's the only thing that has really gotten me there other than maybe 2C-B. Some of the 2C's give that very familiar swirling type visual for example when you look at wood grain and some nifty tracers.

i generally dont get what i would class as visuals from anything except DMT. With mushrooms and with acid i get what i would class as visual distortions, like moving carpets/wallpaper and strange shadow play, but thats about it, no matter how much i have taken and i dont think i have ever had CEV with anything but DMT

I have tripped on mushrooms too many times to count, and almost always have visuals effects. Even at doses of a gram, I'll see very faint patterns overlaying everything that move and change color constantly. If I increase the dosage, things start getting really weird. The walls breath, sometimes even melt. The carpet grows and shrinks, consuming and spitting out my feet as it does. Objects seem to stretch in ways they shouldn't. Doorways are warped. All this and more happens every time I take mushrooms almost.

On AMT however, I never had more then the HD like vision. Only tried a couple times though

LSD gives me those weird breathing and melting object type visuals as well. But I have not delved that deep into LSD yet.

The thing about OCD that you mentioned makes sense though. My fiancé has OCD and it usually takes her more then normal to get optimal effects. She refuses to eat anything less then 3.5g, where as I can get to the same level on 2-2.5g.

I'd like to see if i can get immersive visuals from stronger mushrooms.
I've only ever used p. cubensis.

Maybe growing a big batch of psilocybe cyanescens will provide some deep visuals :want:

I usually find myself eating 4+g of cubensis attempting to bring on a fully immersive trip & only have mild & uninteresting visuals with an intense mental trip.

Now that i think about it, i havn't been diagnosed with OCD, but i do find myself doing some mildly OCD type things very frequently.

Almost always.
CEV's are often colorful, and very complex. LSD over 200 micros is always a special lightshow, while shrooms take off when i go over 1 gr.

Ayahuasca is a tricky beast, i get one visual heavy show on average out of 3 sessions.

Rue + shrooms can be as intense as Aya. Even on low doses (<1gr) in the first hour i'll get my third eye blown through and cleansed.

I don't smoke much changa, but when i do its like triple rainbow x9000.

Most often the visuals are spontaneous and surprising ime. If I want visuals they are quite attainable considering how sensitive I can be, yet if I desire to see something more within myself the trip will unfold as such, usually not as visual. So I think intention certainly does have some importance regarding overall trip intensity. If there is one thing I've learned about a true visual experience (and others can probably relate), is that your experience prior to taking a psychedelic is of great importance. If I go outside, today, and give a hand to people I've never met before, all day long, I'm going to experience a lot of positivity and general enhanced well-being. Therefore, general enhancement and learning in the psychedelic realm. Visually speaking, I feel practicing this can heighten visual awareness and connecting to it on a greater level.. or rather, seeing it more clearly. Perhaps it is activities as such that can make a complete difference within the grand visual experience of mushrooms, DMT, 4-AcO, mescaline etc.

I find very little visual or otherwise at the lower end of things, often uncomfortable bodyload. I don’t dose low much as a result. Now I have found where I place myself dose-wise with most of the things I play with my journeys tend to be very OEV/CEV visual.
