DOC

Migrated topic.

Rising Star
Added this one ( DOC ) to the wiki. It should serve as a good skeleton for the other DOx compounds if I or anyone else feel so inclined. So, anyone have experience with this substance?

In light of some recent LSD experiences (a chemical I only tried a handful of times several years ago), I've reflected on my previous acid encounters. None of them have compared qualitatively to my first. This is something I never really considered before as it was my first psychedelic and I just assumed the single blotter I took was really strong and/or I had a high sensitivity to it. In retrospect, I'm confident it wasn't a tryptamine and was likely DOC, which was apparently being passed around as LSD at the time (2005).

It took about 3 hours to peak and it was intense and incredibly visual. It was more stereotypically "psychedelic" [is this perhaps what Shulgin means when he refers to DOC as an "archetypical psychedelic?"] than any of the tryptamines I've tried. Rainbows were floating through the air; in darkness, a highly defined "mesh" of fractal patterns graced my entire field of vision. At one point it took the form of cannabis leaves, outlined in a deep rich green and filled with the black of night. The ridges of the leaves interlocked with each other perfectly like an M.C. Escher drawing. Throughout the experience, I had almost painfully restless legs, probably a result of vasoconstriction. I laid down and the mesh and the darkness were replaced by a pulsing tunnel of color that I travelled through rapidly. I then fell asleep, mid-peak, which has never happened to me on LSD. In fact, my only gripe with LSD is the hours and hours of not being able to find sleep. The next day, I felt the most wonderful and soft afterglow that lasted into the following evening. The attached image is the closest artistic rendering (from our beloved Alex Grey) of the gestalt of the experience.

tl;dr I think my first "acid" experience was actually DOC and it was amazing. Whatever it was, I'd like to know. If any Nexians have experience with this, I'd love to know what you thought, and whether our experiences compare.

I tried this substance once, and had a very positive experience, (considering the environment)

It was very visual, especially in the dark. Long-lasting. Others have said DOC is really good.

i do remember taking a shower in the dark, while seeing things similar to Alex Grey paintings.

I've experimented a little with this substance recently. About a month ago I took ~1.3 mg. Slight stimulation, enhanced colors, music, etc. Reached a light (++) about two hours in. Started coming down at four hours, slept no problem at six hours. Two days later, I took ~3.0 mg. I don't know how much tolerance I had, but I'd guess very little since an experiment with 4.0 mg weeks later scaled appropriately. My 3.0 mg experience was comparable in intensity to maybe 150 ug LSD or 2 grams of average shrooms. Reached a light (+++) by two hours which plateaued for maybe three hours. Mild confusion and restlessness like LSD, but annoying jaw tension. A cup of strong tea seemed to help. I listened to music in the dark with little visual activity, but occasional oneirogenic visions. The comedown was a two-sided experience. About seven hours after taking the DOC, the psychedelic effects dropped off pretty suddenly, but I continued to experience light visuals for a few more hours. I feel I could have found sleep, but it was morning at this point so I stayed up.

At 4.0 mg (with no tolerance), DOC revealed its potential. I dosed with a couple friends. I was up to a solid (+++) after two hours. There was some real LSD-like confusion going on (e.g. thought loops), and some strong CEVs. At one point, I closed my eyes and watched blood pool up in the crevasses of a non-newtonian fluid (like in those videos where they put it on a speaker). I watched this hellific scene in a very clinical, detached way like I might do LSD. Generally, I was glowing and chipper. I didn't keep track of the timeline too well, but I was fast asleep 11 hours after dosing. I woke up at the 14 hour mark sleepy with a mild afterglow, but completely sober with zero hallucinations.

DOC is pretty similar to LSD, but a little more visual and a little less deep psychologically. Negatives were jaw-tension and diuresis. It lasts about as long as LSD for me, though it comes on slower. The come down is comparable, but the visuals continue mildly for a couple extra hours, and it's easier for me to find sleep whereas LSD won't let me. Claims of 20+ hour durations seem exaggerated to me. Maybe it's just a matter of dose, but altogether, 4.0 mg didn't last any longer than 3.0 mg. There was a lot of pent-up physical energy that craved release. I think DOC would be great for outdoor excursions if one remembered to stay hydrated.

This is an all time favorite of mine. I don't encourage jumping the gun, but i do find for me that there is a sweetspot around 4-4.5mg before which is more speedy than psychedelic. However, once i hit this point the psychedelia is profoundly mesmerizing. Some of the brightest and most organized visual patterns I have encountered. Neon DNA and CEV's that resemble my ayahuasca experiences. The headspace is also incredibly deep for a phenethylamine. Rivals LSD imo. The only drawback for me, as someone who is paranoid of a bad family history of cardiovascular health, is how stimulating the comeup can be. I recommend a safe but active environment for this one. Such as a festival that encourages positive entheogen use. For me this is my go-to for regional burns as I get to spend much time exploring the atmosphere during the afternoon with plenty of energy left to dance the night away and wind down next to the fire.
