I am prepared for my first extraction, I've read all the stb methods over and over again and came up with my own method. I'm going to basify the water to about ph 13, add mimosa. Let it stand for about 2 hours agitating every so often. Add naptha, stir and let seperate and repeat X4. After all the solvent is collected I'm going to do a non polar wash with sodium carbonate (washing soda) with the water at a ph of 8.5. Following a freeze precip. Does this sound right?

I wasn't going to do any measurements because I read somewhere that it is unnecessary. The only thing as far as any measurements go is I'm just measuring ph. Any input is appreciated and thanks in advance.

An STB needs more lye than that required to basify the water to pH 13 and 8.5 is too low for the NP wash.
Unless you're a trained chemist, I don't see why you don't want to follow an established procedure for your first extraction.
And why not measure? How are you going to know how to fix it if something goes wrong if you don't know what you did?
Any idea how many posts we've seen that go something like "I put some lye in the water and now the naptha is clear. What went wrong?"

Honstly I don't know what went wrong with that scenerio.... I was planning on using a lot of water and base probably half a gal for 200 grams of mimosa was going to shake it up then add naptha then stir then perforem 3 or 4 pulls and honestly I was only going to do the non polar wash on only half of the solution

in my experience, its best to pull quickly after adding your base in a STB. the majority of the DMT becomes available pretty much immediately, and after the lye has broken down the mimosa for a longer time you get dirtier pulls that require clean up.

Thanks for that valuable info, it's very much appreciated. So other than how I was going to let the mimosa sit in the base mix for to long is there anything else that I should do differently?
