Doing away with lye???

Migrated topic.

So SWIM's friend had a daydream where they wanted to do standard A/B tek, but didn't want to use lye. SWIM's friends imagined that soda carb or lime would sufficiently raise the solution to the desired pH, but could not imagine what solvent he had available could pick it up without a maxed out pH. SWIM's friend had heard in one dream that limonene or DCM would work for sure, but SWIM's friend sought them out to no avail. SWIM's friend then tried dreaming for the answer as to whether or not xylene would work, but could not find a sure answer.

Can anyone please help SWIM's friend out? Or point SWIM's friend to a tread with information on the topic.

Hmm...

*glances at search function*

maybe you should use it? And maybe this topic should be moved to the nursery so more people can benefit from understanding the SEARCH FUNCTION AND USING THEIR EYES

first post happened here??
Yes, the users that registered before the implementation of the Nursery status may have zero or even a handful of posts but technically they were never ascribed to the Nursery.

I moved this topic to the Nursery and also put the user there as well.

By the way, may I get the initiative and comment on the use of a conjunction (and, but, or, nor, yet, so etc) especially so when one opens a post and uses it firm the very very first sentence? I am not a native English speaker and I personally feel this is an awkward way to start a sentence. Or is my English too old-fashioned and modern-day native English speakers think it is OK?

Whenever someone starts his post like: "So I did this and this and that...." I feel I have lost a fair amount of mental processes that went into the mind of the poster who, inadvertently decided not to post them but instead conjuncted his final remarks/conclusions/questions in the post.
