Drying out GOOEY DMT

Ok so I been a long time lurker here, havn't really had the need to post cus you guys have answered most all of my questions by uste and fallowing good teks:grin:

But I just did a STB extraction and am having a problem:
I did a freeze percip with some VERY piss yellow naptha. (I think I stirred it up a little too much). So I froze it over night and took it out the next day. Usually I pour all the naptha back into the main jar and let the crystals dry on the pirex, and scrape the crystals off after they dry.
This time when I tried to pour the naptha back in all the DMT was purin in with it! It was like a DMT soup. So I had it sit on the window sill overnight to evap the naptha but it's still goopey... I got most the naptha out puring thru a coffee filter. Should I just pour the remaining DMT-containing naptha thru a coffee filter? Or re-freeze and try to get the crystals more solid?

Whatever solids you already have could be cleaned up & made less 'goopy' by doing a recrystallization. If you let your naptha warm up before filtering it all out then some of your alkaloid has been redissolved. Take your remaining solvent and either partially evap and re-freeze, or completely evap and do recrystallization on the resulting goop.

Goop generally denotes fats, which isn't a bad thing (betacarbolines and nmt)

If it's orangey, I'd honestly say spread it out thin on a pyrex and let it sit. Then take a pin or a razor and thoroughly cross-hatch it once it's dried enough to hold form a little better. Let it sit, use the razor to scrape up and re-spread, then cross hatch and let it sit. Eventually you'll end up with a clay-like consistency. Assuming you decanted properly and didn't get any base in there then it'll be good to go. A little harder to handle than a dry xtal but active nonetheless.

Or you could do a re-x (theres a really good guide on the site, called "Glass shard Recrystallization") to suck out some of the fats, but the fats aren't actually a bad thing IMHO, as long as there really is no base contaminant.

Collect the goo, redissolve it in your NPS of choice, and do a mini A/B. Collect the pulls from mini A/B, put them in a glass dish/pan, evaporate half of your NPS, and let it freeze/precip.

And...voila!

I'm assuming you used acacia? Most people seem to get a goo if they don't do a defat step. Or some people suggest doing a heptane re-X.

For starters, Lumpy, what is your starting material? By that I mean what part of what plant species are you attempting to extract DMT from? Are you following a tek? If so, which one?

Are you saying that beta carbolines and NMT are the same thing as plant fats? If so, that is incorrect. Furthermore, a "goop"-like end product does not necessarily equal fat contamination. There are multiple factors which can cause someone to yield a "goo"-like substance rather than DMT crystals.

That had been my understanding of it, because if a defat is done correctly, then there will only be pure spice left, meaning that NMT and b-carbolines, as well as fats are pulled out in the defatting stage. I had assumed this to mean that NMT and b-carbolines were fats of sorts as well?
