swim just did a stb extraction but this time evaped down a good amount of the naptha. then stuckk it in the freezer

tons of small white crystals are all over the bottom and sides


its purty8)


anyhoo i dunno why swim did not start doing this sooner

he does have one question
and it seems to be a highly debated one

should he:

a- pour out the naptha then scrape the crystals out

b- scrape the crystals and filter the naptha quickly befor it becomes too warm





iv heard both work

swim just wanted some expereince

Well Swim in his experience has found it better to just pour off excess naptha back into the jar, then just srape 'em out after it dries. I first tried using a filter and the crystals disappeared, I think because the naptha takes too long to filter all the way thru the filter... makin the spice redissolve. So yeah, option A for swim

yeah swim thinks that seem logical

just pour it off
and scrape it out and let the paste dry

or let it dry in there i suppose

but it seems like its alot horder to handel when its totaly all shardy

well swim has it in a jar in the fridge not a dish

so its a little harder to deal with dried crystals in there



but he will see i guess

also do you recomend i just evap the run off? or should i put it back in the fridge

Evap it if you want the remaining DMT, as this is the DMT that did not precipitate of so it probably will not precip too well now. You can reuse the Naphtha if you want though.

You should pour off the extra naphtha through a filter to catch any lose crystals, and then reseal the jar until it has a chance to warm up so now water condenses on the inside. After that just let the crystals dry and THEN scrape them out. You'll get some nasty lookin DMT if you scrape it while it's still soaked with naptha.

This is how I do it as well. Jars are so much easier to handle and can be sealed thus not filling my freezer with solvent vapor!

I always just pour off the solvent into another jar of the same size. After all of the solvent it out I usually flip the crystal jar on top of the drainage jar to get every drop of solvent out. I have not had my crystals melt doing it this way.

That's also how SWIM does it. He never pours it through a filter. SWIM's crystals are always stuck to the jar, not free floating, so it makes no sense to filter it. If they were free floating, then you'd have to filter it.

I remember in Marsofolds tek that he'd put a marble in his jar once freeze precip is complete, and shake it around heaps to make all the dmt into floaters then filter. I don't really get why, filtering is a pain for most home experimenters, so much easier to just pour off

use a flat dish thats easy to scrape and cover it with some plastic wrap. after all the crystals precipitate out in the freezer, they should stick to the dish. Then just carefully pour the remaining solvent off. if you want to find out if any substance remains in what your pouring away, pour it into another dish and evaporate it.

Yeah, I don't know that I'm comfortable using plastic wrap on an almost finished product. I'm really not into smoking plastic, even if it's just a little bit. If it works for you, but I find that 1/2 pint mason jars (regular or wide-mouth) work wonderfully. I don't trust myself handling a dish...I'd probably spill everything everywhere.

I use medium size Jelly jars.

After doing a sodium Carbonate wash, I use my Pipette to transfer the Alka-loaded naptha equally into 2 or 3 jars that seal.
I don't just pour it into the jars because with the pipette, I can be sure to not get any water from the SC wash into the freeze precip jars!!
Water/ice in your freeze precip melts quickly when trying to separate the crystals from the naptha and will cause some of your spice to melt into the filter when it should be drying.

Works well!!
