Extending Shelf Life of Cannabis?

I made honey oil 20 years ago from a grow that still works great. Has not really degraded in color or smell since then, still very potent. I keep in sealed in vac in small glass jars. Have not lab tested it, but I'd estimate it would still test in around the 500-650 mg/g that most commercial honey oil or RSO comes in around. That actually reminds me that I should probably look for a good lab to test the potency as I'm curious now. I've stored flower the same way, but even under vac seal and away from light it still degrades by smell, color and taste over the years. The honey oil is devoid of any green or brown plant material, just the Cannabinoids and terpenes, and it stores great long term. You can do an ethanol extraction and evaporation like I did, or find a nice bud press and press out your own Rosin and store it the same way. If I grow again I would keep a little cured flower and turn the rest into live Rosin and store in glass vac jars. I know they will last at least 20 years.
That's very helpful information thank you and nice to see you again. Feel free to pop back in here and share with us your lab results for the honey oil! Sounds like I should invest in a press and some small mason jars with vac seal lids.

Ebay lists some pretty good rosin heat presses 2-4 tons from $150 - $400. As long as you treat it with respect and clean it regularly, one could conceivably run a whole bunch of personal grow through it, bottle it all up and resell the press for a little less than one paid for it. There are vids on Youtube that show the rosin heat press process. I have owned a pump n seal system for more than 30 years that allows me to vacuum seal a wide variety of glass from small jars to large mason jars and some plastic storage devices as well. They still cost only about $30 - $40 for a system that will last years and allow you to vac seal dozens of different jars.

Just wanted to update that I was finally able to test some Full Extract Cannabis Oil made from the honey oil I grew and extracted with Ethanol 20+ years ago. It tested at a potency of 550-650 mg THC per 1000mg of oil. 55-65% active THC after 20+ years is pretty good. The top shelf RSO I pick up is 645mg per and the Solventless Live Rosin I buy from a top CA brand of Cannabis at the dispensary is 640-720 mg THC per 1000mg, so right up there with the good stuff even after all these years. For long term storage I suggest either the press method and/or freeze bath in the highest proof ethanol possible for 24 hours, then filter and evap. I've been able to recapture 80% of my ethanol with a simple distiller setup. Then store in glass away from light for the long haul.

Seeing this talk of ethanol extracts reminds me - some years ago I chucked some nearly fresh, fat buds in a pot of decent single malt whisky for a month or so at room temperature in a nice, shady corner. Worked well, and I seem to recall a second pull on the same bud was somehow even better.

ive heard that called green dragons breath or somesort

Yep, Green Dragon. Works best if you decarb the Cannabis before extracting in ethanol of any kind. Whisky/Whiskey seems to fit the flavor profile of Cannabis the best IMO, Tequila not so much, but YMMV.

man i might just be a lightweight or just plain dont know how to mix my drinks, but that would likely lead me to barfing if a good 50mg dose was more than a single shot oooooo it makes my tummy hurt just imagining grassacol

if you cant tell, ive never tried green dragon, would totally try a shot though if offered
