extract psychoactive alkaloids from all extracted alkaloids

Hello everyone!
The thread name is pretty self-explanatory, but I’ll try to share as much info as I can.

So, I bought ~100g of Grade A++ Peganum harmala extract. It was made using the Ethanol-Water Solvent Extraction method, followed by Spray Drying (they mentioned it has high Brix).
Now, I want to extract the 3 main "good" alkaloids from this stuff while leaving out the ones that cause stomach upset. Can anyone help guide me or point me to a solid extraction tutorial?

So I think you can extract from your extract two main alkaloids named Harmine and Harmaline they can be separated based on pH for which you can find tutorial here on the Nexus. I’m not sure if there’s a third useful alkaloid in there, in my experience it’s mostly harmine and harmaline.

While separating seems nice, I like the full spectrum much better. To continue I would take 10 g dissolve in water with a dash of vinegar and then perform on manske by adding a saturated salt solution. This should separate out the good stuff.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies!
I’ll likely follow your advice, but just to clarify:
After researching, I found that harmaline, harmine, and harmalol are the psychoactive compounds in Peganum harmala, while harmol, harmane, and norharmane have unclear effects. One person suggested the latter group might cause stomach issues.

The member Endlessness conducted research on Rue extracts using mass chromatography and found that the extracts contained only harmine and harmaline. None of the other derivatives were present. This suggests that the extraction process may be selective.

Any way Rue extracts shouldn’t have very severe stomach pain as an side effect, however nausea is quite common and goes up proportionally with the dose.

Good luck with extraction and enjoy, it’s really nice chemistry, especially with the manske.
