FAQ clarification on a ratio update with pic:/

dmt handbook uses 200g lye for a kilo
Marsofold's uses 50g lye for a pound
FAQ suggest 1g lye for 1g mhrb and less ect... which would =453g lye

If SWIM were to use 125g mhrb the option of 125g lye is there, but it is a heavy load compared to the other A/B teks.
question is should SWIM stick with 50g lye even tho 125g is 3x's less than a pound? Or go with more or less?

the 1:1 ratio is for STB, not A/B. With A/B extractions, you can do fine with a lot less. Exactly how much you need depends on how much acid you use (since the NaOH needs to neutralize the acid in the process of raising the pH).

But since you're using MHRB, why bother with weighing out a precise amount of NaOH? Just make a concentrated solution of it, and add enough that the mimosa-water transitions through that gray sludgy stage and turns that slippery-black color. That's the beauty of MHRB extraction: the bark acts as a built-in pH meter.

so SWIM added 32oz of lye/water to a half gal of mhrb solution, and has got a jug of light colored chocolet milk, good? bad?

SWIM cant thank u enuff for that quick response, the coco has turned to oil by adding 5x's the lyedoseage.

now for a more relaxed que, does the stuff need to be dark, or the skin from the movie aliens black? because it is light black, SWIM is just not sure if it can go say TAR black. thankya.

this my friends is what happens when a SWIM adds a half teaspoon of lye to a pot of water and achieves a ph of 12 and thinks it's good to go. So far SWIM has added many grams more of lye solution to get back on track.

so basically SWIM been dumping the lye in, managed to get a lot of naptha out, it's clear so not knowing if anything is worth freezing.

screw A/B, SWIM will give STB a try another time, if that dont work then it was not meant to be.
