Fast-drying spice crystals

Hello, this is my first post and I'd like to start by contributing something small to this great site, which has been just about as helpful as a year of O. Chem my retarded friend recently finished.

Materials needed:

High-speed fan (preferably with metal cage)
coffee filter

Simply put your wet crystals in a coffee filter, fold in half only once (so there are only 2 layers for air to go through where the crystals are), but fold around the edges and staple or paper clip. Then attach to the back of the fan with a few paper clips. If your fan is adequate, the coffee filter should stick without attachment, but secure as it tends to travel over time.

Hope it helps; that naphtha is a pain to dry, My retarded friend is going to look into getting hexane or heptane for his next extractions since its rate of evap is about 6x faster. Naphtha evaporates 4x faster than water.

Although no one has commented I'd like to add a word of caution. Be very careful as to how soaked the spice is with naphtha, especially if you are drying after a freeze precip. My Buddhist friend once threw his scraped crystals with still quite a bit of dampness from the naphtha, into a coffee filter and onto back of his fan. He went about some chores and came back an hour later to see most of the spice was gone, with naphtha dripping down the fan. Naphtha get almost syrupy in the freezer so a lot can hide in a small amount of spice.

I recommend freeze precip be done in a glass baking dish. Quickly drain off the naphtha into filter. Most sticks onto the dish (the Buddhist guy said no crystals were even in the naphtha in the dish) Then stick in front of fan. After a while the crystals will seem to vanish, then maybe a day later will come back. Once they are just damp and not soaked is when to use this fan dry method.

when doing quick evaps like that you gotta put a close eye out that you don't oxidize the DMT into a nasty yellowish goop. swim has had problems with this, but also success, so just be careful. also note the crystals form much smaller this way than when doing a prolonged evap.

crystals should already exist before putting the spice in a coffee filter to quick dry. as noted wet crystals can redissolve and drip, plus get stuck in the filter. in my hindu friend's experience, it is yellow goop which already existed, its just that the crystals are the first to go when the naphtha warms up and dissolves them. once that naphtha evaporates, the original crystals evened out the mix again.

this method is not to replace evap, its to go after it, or in the late stages of.
