First Extraction – Crystals Forming on Lid and Tray Edges

Hello everyone,

This is my first time performing an extraction. I placed my glass tray with the solvent (Zippo lighter fluid) in the freezer, and after 4 hours, I checked to see if everything was going well (I know it should stay there for a total of 12 to 24 hours).

In the picture, you can see some crystals that have formed at the bottom of the glass tray. Additionally, I noticed what appear to be crystals forming on the plastic lid and along the edges of the tray.

My question is: will I be able to recover the crystals that formed on the lid, or should I discard them due to being on a plastic surface (which would reduce my yield)?

I appreciate any guidance you can provide. Thanks in advance for your help!

I wonder if during handling you might have splashed fluid on the lid or else it has condensed on the lid at some point?

If you are a fully signed up member of the plastic paranoia posse you would discard all the crystals as your fluid is now contaminated by contact! If you are not then gently scrape them off or else rinse them off with room temp fluid during the next pull. It's your extract and your choice.
