First Extraction Help/Counsling

This have what my chinchilla done so far

he put 1 pound of MHRB (alot for a first extraction i know) into a 1 gallon pickle jar along with about 2 liters of distilled water with about 200 grams of Lye

shaked and let sit for 2 hours and 15 minutes

added slightly less than 400ml of Naphta and stirred for 20 minutes as i stirred i believe there where no emulsions present (this peaks my curiosity)

is the separation supposed to happen almost instantaneously or should some time elapse.. it has been about more than 20 minutes and there is about 1.5 cm of separation. I am thinking that there should be a higher (height wise the jar) seperation as it doesnt look even close to 400 ml of naphtha.

the naphtha is dark and is slightly difficult to tell the difference between it and the soup

1. should i be worried that there where no emulsions?

2. will time cause the naphtha layer to be more distinguishable

any advice or counseling (haha) is welcome, and i thank anyone that is here to help

Okay, so everything is still in there. Base further, usually STB calls for 1:1 NaOH and MHRB by weight. Let it sit for at least an hour, then try pulling with 50-100mls of naptha, from what you've been using to pull is fine. Roll it around every 15-30 minutes for two hours and then try a freeze precipitation. I bet there will be much more magic for you.

the mixture is at my chicnhilla's other house, but i will be there tomorrow.... before i left today i added 2 more tablespoons of lye into the mixture, also have 2 jars in the freezer so hopefully some magic will happen

i have not given up on this yet, i will keep doing pulls till they yield little to no crystals.... then maybe do xylene pulls

EDIT: after more reading i believe i should get a third or maybe fourth gallon jar, i think more water needed to be added.... Nomans tek said using pre-powdered bark one should use 1.5-2x the amount of water, which means i have to be using 10+ liters of water, does this sound like a reasonable amount of water for a pound of MHRB?

would adding more water result in have a more polar mixture causing more spice to be pulled by the naphtha?

UPDATE: my second pull yielded about 50 mg of yellow crystals... this is looking really grim
