First time 69ron's tek advice needed pictorial

Hello, SWIM has decided it was high time he or her try to extract mescaline and thought 69ron's tek seemed easy enough. SWIM did some research regarding everything that would be involved into making this happen. So, SWIM took the advice of the Suppliers thread and other helpful attempts at the tek. SWIM has two different types of cacti though, SWIM bought two fresh cacti with more fresh bridgesii on the way and the other being dried powder from a reputable supplier who is on good terms with most nexus members who have come into contact with them. SWIM will refrain from mentioning any particular names in order to avoid violating any forum rules.

After the above cacti was dried SWIM powdered the old fashion way with a mortar and pestle which you will see in later pics. SWIM then weighed out the correct measurements according to the first steps and also diluted Hydrochloric Acid to 10% from 31.5%.

SWIM mixed the lime and 100 grams of dried powdered from the vendor. SWIM then added the distilled water but since SWIM did not have a stirrer of any kind SWIM shook the flask in order to mix it. This created a thick foam and SWIM was concerned immediately that this might not be what it was intended to look like or do. Never the less SWIM continued on and added the D-Limonene (Soil Mender brand)the D-limonene took away some of the foam as it went in. SWIM then shook again to mix the two solutions and started to wait. An hour later it seemed to SWIM that the foam was not going down too much and the two solutions wasnt serperating as SWIM would hope. SWIM left it over night and it showed some progress. SWIM filtered what SWIM could from the flask into a seperate beaker. Out of 200ml of D-limonene SWIM obtained only 100ml-ish of yellowish D-limonene. SWIM is wonder if he or she should start again or is there anyway to fix this problem because it seems to be making things difficult. SWIM will wait for now to see it will serperate anymore and SWIM has gotten a stirrer in the mean time lol. Anywho, SWIM will continue to post pics and progress on the tek. This is a repost...you could have just added the pictures to your last post.

Just pull from that limonene you have there and stir next time. D-Limonene is slightly miscible with water so this happens. You may have used too much but at least it looks like there's alkaloids in the solution.

I poured off the remaining D-limo and stirred the solution, it turned into a sort of green sludge. I added another 150-200ml of D-limo and the sludge started to break apart from bigger pieces to smaller and smaller chunks. I stirred until it was well mixed and set aside to separate. It already has started to separate and the D-limo has more of a green tint to it now and it's slightly cloudy, I'll continue to wait for everything to settle.

Also for some strange reason part of the powder turned brown almost like burnt hope this doesn't effect the tek in anyway. Again, any advice or comments would help tremendously, thank you.

That flask may be less than ideal. I use a Pyrex bowl. The limonene sits well above the cactus mixture. I think the discoloration may be caused by exposure to air. I synths because if any cactus mixture does sit exposed to air, it will discolor. That may not be what's hppening to you.

Freebase mescaline (like the kind you are extracting) can bond with carbon dioxide and form mescaline carbonate... Which may not (or may be , I don't know) be as soluble n dlimo.... So it may not be good to get discolortion.

I'm not sure if mesc freebase coated in limonene would become mescaline carbonate... But I guess it could.

Stir stir stir.. I put on nitrile gloves and break up all the little lumps with my fingers in the limo.

Did you chop up that potted bridgesii? I hope you left most of it on the roots (never stump them all the way down....unless you hate them). I recognize the pot and labeling... I have bought (and grown) a few cacti from that guy. That's a good plant, you'll want to propagate that.

We must be kind to our green friends.... This year a couple of my pedros have matured to the age of consumption. I'm not sure I will be able to go through with the slaughter. It would be better if I could just eat or cook the little guy... but these first to mature are just PC pedro... Im not gonna consume that much lame cacti so an extraction is in order, I'm afraid the whole drytek procedure will just be too gruesome. inquisition.

I'm not saying its like you paid to have a young specimen pulled from its false paradise and shipped to your estate...where you savagely mutilated its flesh with your kitchen tools... then stuffed into a hot box where its remains were stripped of all moisture... pulverized to nearly dust and then exposed to harsh chemicals and solvents just so you can extract and consume its very essence. Well, actually I am saying that, but its not as bad as it sounds. carry on. Ive done it too.

I couldn't stop laughing when I read this lol. I did not keep the bridgesii, I suppose eventually I will probably grow my own collection but for now I am just experimenting with various vendors. I did like the person you are referring too but I feel like I'm spending too much. Then again, I remember about 2 years ago this stuff was way cheaper then it is now. Anywho, I hope that the discoloration is caused by a content of alkaloids rather then some unwanted chemical change. I am going to attempt the rest of the pull tonight possibly with another two, I will post pictures and update them to the first post so everyone can see the progress and point out anything out of the ordinary. The pyrex bowl sounds nicer then cramping everything into this flask I will actually go buy one possibly tomorrow and use on my next 100 grams. On another note, thank you for your input madcap I've read your past posts on other cacti related posts and found it quite helpful. I'm glad to have your help

Alright I did the first pulls on the translucent D-Limo and the another set of pulls off of the following D-limo pull from the original 100 grams. They are currently in the dehydrator at 155 as stated. Here's what they looked like:

Any explanation on the cloudiness of the second D-limo batch?

Well I pulled the dishes from the dehydrator and found a thin brownish translucent film on them. I'm hoping that it's what I wanted to achieve with all of this. I don't think it was the powder I've heard many great reviews for them (HP) I am going to do a second extraction and see what that will produce, this time using a big bowl instead of a flask. Also, I will wash the current pulls and see how that goes.

The unfortunate thing gaia is the dishes that I evaporated the liquid on melted slightly from the heat, trapping the some of the brown film. The little bit that I could take off was small and couldn't amount to anything. This time around will be different. I will redo the first post and put a rehashed version of it this time, hopefully getting all of it done tonight and hope to see results tomorrow or the next day. The fact that it did have some brown though means it's active and has something it.
