First Xtract Tek

So SWIM finally has finally gotten ahead on school and this weekend is going to attempt his first extraction!
SWIM is following Gir's pictorial as the STB tek as he understood it quite well, but he considered the q1q2 as well.
SWIM has 2 questions.
SWIM is using pre-powdered bark and does this need any adjustment from Gir's tek? SWIM read in the Layman's tek that he needed to double the amount of water he is using when using pre-powdered bark. But SWIM was a little skeptical. Right now SWIM is planning on using 1500 ml of H20 for 100g of mimosa. Does this seem correct?
And the second question is one that he seems to get answers from both sides. Should SWIM heat the Naptha for the first pulls or leave at room temp for pulls one and two then heat it for the last pull or two?
Other than that SWIM has told me he feels quite confident in the process and he will post pictures of the results!

1500 ml should be fine. If you have any trouble with it clumping up you can add a little more water. I've found that adding like 1/3rd of the water first, then 1/3rd of the bark and mixing that up before adding the next 1/3rd of each really helps to get everything mixed up and reduce the clumping action.

As far as heating the naptha goes, it really depends on how warm the solution is when you add that first pull. If it's cooled down quite a bit, I usually fill the sink with hot water and put the whole jug in there to keep everything nice and warm.

Regardless of if you heat the naptha up or not, if the solution is cold, it's not going to do you a lot of good either way because the naptha will cool as soon as it hits the solution.

So if everything is nice and warm, then you probably don't need to warm the naptha on your first pull. On your later pulls you might need to warm everything up.

Sorry if I over-complicated it. Good luck on your extraction!

Yessir, 1500ml is a good amount for 100g of powdered mimosa.

None of them are necessary but it helps the pulls and will most likely increase your yields. I personally like to warm the naphtha for every pull. If you chose to warm in just make sure to NEVER put naphtha on a stove, in a microwave, in an oven ect. It is extremely flammable. Boil water than put a glass cup holding the naphtha into the boiling water with the pan off the stove.

Thanks for the response from both of you guys!
I am well aware of Naptha flammability and i shall never make that mistake ha. Chem 2 has taught me a few things about such chemicals ;)
I will post pictures as soon as results come in!
