Floating crystals

Hi guys. I just went through my first pull. I took it out of the freezer after 12 hours, and all the crystals are floating freely, not attached to the pyrex. Yes, I did disturb it this morning (gah!). I looked up possible solutions to this, but only found that a coffee filter is a bad idea. Has anybody tried pantyhose and been sucessful? What can I do. For now I just put it back in the freezer.

Are they actually semi-spherical xtals? Or are they more sheet-like, like thin ice? Often times, goo can look kinda like thin sheeted ice floating and doesnt really attach itself to the glass. Xtals in SWIM"s experience typically always attach to the glass or at least sink, they dont float in the naphtha like goo. Once you drain off your naphtha, youll know what it is because once you fan the dishes, youll just have, well, goo, as opposed to snowflakes lol.

Was your dish cleaned before use?

yeah i'm pretty sure i rinsed the dish, and it was brand new. they are round crystals, some sunk to the bottom and are stuck. its not a sheet.

A coffie filter will catch all the crystals ..just make shure the filter is a darker color than the crystas so spice is easy to see..
But Maybe if you leave it in freezer longer they may stick to glass and gro larger?...

I'd suggest pouring off the naptha into another freezable dish, evaporting about half with a fan, and refreezing. More should fall out. This has happened all three times I've extracted (Cyb's tek/ACRB), and the extra freezes seem to work fine.

Or....

Just heat the naphtha up (safely! With a hot water bath) until the DMT fully dissolves back into the naphtha.

Put it back in the freezer

And don't touch it this time :d

I am facing the same problem.

I attempted a coffee filter, but I was left with a gooey filter, rather than crystals lying on top of it. I would have needed to re-dissolve in my solvent to capture the DMT back, but would have made no progress toward crystals.

I'd suggest pouring off the naptha into another freezable dish, evaporting about half with a fan, and refreezing. More should fall out. This has happened all three times I've extracted (Cyb's tek/ACRB), and the extra freezes seem to work fine.

This is certainly worth a shot. As for me, this longer time has not worked.

I also attempted this. However, even after 30+ hours, when I picked my containers back up, it was a thick layer of white fluff swishing around, not crystals stuck to the glassware.

Good luck to you, though! I think trying all of these steps helped familiarize me with some of the extraction process and made me think harder about it, so it's a learning process if nothing else. Whatever happens, don't lose patience. Keep trying to see what will work. I am just going to let evaporation take it course and scrape together goo. I just can't believe so much white fluff will end up lost in a sticky thin coating that needs to be super-scraped, but I guess those are my cards this time around.

You were right, it turned out to be goo. So strange. They appeared to be crystals, but turned into wax crystals(?). I went to scrape them up and most was goo, some was slightly crystalized. It all got mixed up together.

But don't worry, I read the post about 'enough goo questions'. I am accumulating the goo on the razor blades and I guess I'll figure out what to do with it later. Hahah. Any comments are welcome though.

Did it crystalize after that?

It's been about half white to yellow crystals that look like little DMT snowballs on the bottom of the dish and half amber colored goo. It all smells the same, like shoe rubber the first two times and like flowers the third time, and is all active. I put it all in changa together.

If you evaporate all the way down, the actives will still be there but will probably be mostly goo, whereas with the partial evap and refreeze more crystals will fall out that you can dry like Cyb describes.

I doubt you'll be able to get it all crystalized if you're using ACRB, though people have reported better luck with an A/B tek over a STB or hybrid ATB if crystals are your aim. There are some threads about cleaning up the acacia goo also. That being said, if the smell is right, you're in business. Give your acacia extracts love, even if they're not a perfect 10 .

I'm adding a link to an easy way to make changa with the goo that doesn't require any extra supplies, since you and primordium seem to be in the same boat. You can use some inert leaf, like dryed mint from the grocery. It's fun to go all out with changa preparation, but this will do if you want to try your product sooner rather than later.

Thank you so much! I regret not doing changa now. I wasted all my goo struggling with my GVG and choreboy. Changa seems much simpler! Why does anyone ever recommend the GVG??! I wasted so much money on it!

I'll be going straight from goo to changa next time around. Thank you again.

The GVG is a great vessel. Just scrape the goo/xtals up place them onto some wax paper and put it in the freezer, after a few hours that goo should harden up. all the goo swim has seen has always harderned up in the freezer.

No problem! It happens haha. Low humidity helps to really un-goo things into a workable dense semi-solid. Kinda makes me wonder if a dessicant would work?
