How long does it take to freeze precip spice from naptha at normal freezer temperatures?

While having a scour about the net I came across a site for making homemade ice cream using ice, salt and water to get the temperature down to -21C or if calcium chloride is used instead of salt -29C. However I don't know how long these temperatures are sustained.

What occurred to me is that spice might be freeze precipitated quicker at these temperatures with the added bonus of not giving all your food in the freezer that nice hydrocarbon smell and taste as it could be done in a big ziplock or cooler box.

Anyone have timescales?

swim can see xtals within 20-30 mins but he usually finds leaving it for 1 day is the best. Swims freezer is on the coldest setting. Sometimes swims carrots explode from the water expansion within them.

No doubt, within a few hours max SWIM sees crystals. Although SWIM doesn't have his freezer on the coldest setting, 24 hours is generally good coming from a STB method. SWIM must add, however, that his experiments with A/B have shown bigger, better yields after 48+ hours in the box. Perhaps this may be attributed to the fact that SWIM feels STB methods to be somewhat crude in comparison to A/B methods (although SWIM does prefer the rapid results of STB, then freeze precip., freeze precip., etc. to whiteness).
