freeze precipitation and other hiccups

OK, so I have done the tek that Gir used (ref: STB extractions forum), and found it really fun to do in the kitchen - put 3 container in the freezer last night with cling film and rubberbands over the top.

Today +14 hours later, I pour off the naptha into one container from all 3 dishes, and leave the dishes to evap.

I collect 3 different grades -

* 1 rather small amount of very clean white looking crystal - no smell of solvent.

* 1 large amount of yellowy shiny waxy crystal, some smell, easy to scrape off.

* Finally an amount of thick viscous dark orange material with archetypal "explosion" DMT-crystal formations in the midst of it.

The last one I mixed with half of the second one, put in a shotglass of warmed naptha, and is back in the freezer, with the container containing the combined remaining naptha pulls.

Question one - should I (once evapping completely and scraping from the first 2 grades in their dishes) put the ONE container into the 3 dishes, so there is less naptha in each of them, making it easier to precipitate????

Question 2 - should I smoke this yellowy waxy crystal material? What's the worst that could happen?? Just a bit harsh??

The reasoning behind question 2 is that I'm wondering whether I need to clean it up at all.

I'm not a purist just yet, and having read a thread about colour of DMT not really mattering as long as it's clean and doesn't smell, it should be fine.

I have cut the portion up with a razor blade and it is just drying for a few more hours until the smell of solvent is gone.

I think I am right in assuming the yellowness comes from the plants oils, and this will just makes the smoke a bit harsher, no other alkaloids pulled with the naptha.

no - it's my fault - I'm very longwinded in saying things when I'm trying to multitask (it shouldn't be done by us men oops)

I answered my own question quite easily by just searching around a bit through the forum...I wish I'd thought of doing it before, but was pretty busy.

well you want to have the least amount of naphtha possible (from my understanding) while trying to freeze precipitate so i would say yes to question 1

Hey man

Something i found about the yellow waxy spice... If you scrape it up, make a paste out of it, mold it together, leave it out to dry in front of a gentil fan it will dry up nicelly. then u just have to crumble the paste and let it dry some more. Mine gets almost as dry as the white crystals.
I wouldn´t get the yellow crystals and the dark orange goo together dough. I would do a clean up on the orange stuff.

And as to quest one it is not the amount of solvent that helps the precip but rather the concentration of freebase in it so it really doesn´t matter if you have a lot or a little as long as the concentration is the same... But it´s always simpler to just scrape you goodies just out of one collection jar then of 3 i guess (reduces the waisted material too).

Hey people - thanks for the replies.

Am writing this just before bed - I ended up evapping the solvent down to about half the volume (such a waste but REALLY in a hurry this first extraction...don't ask), and tried the blowing-on-it-to-see-it-go-cloudy method - it went cloudy so I freeze precipitated it for 15 hours.

WHen I looked back in, there next to nothing round the top of the naptha - but floating in the bottom werea couple of FAT snowglobes, and some yellower crystal material...so I decided to syringe then decant off the naptha (to be reused), and dry the stuff I had in the sun, with a coaster over the top...

Come back to this 2 hours later, and it's nicer and less yellow than my waxy material, almost tis muuuuch more crystalline.

So I put this on a crystal slice, and leave it to dry some more after I chop it about a bit.

WHen I finally come back, it has no solvent smell but a distinctive DMT smell. It's ready I think - into the container it goes.

I cleaned the gunkyt orange brown with the warm naptha shotglass and freeze precip, didn't have any other cleaning materials.

So I now have a lot of pale yellow crystalline slightly oily stuff, some yellowish crystals, and some fine snow crystals...tomorrow after work I am going to test it all out.
