Fresh Bark?

Migrated topic.

SWIM just got 2kg of what he is fairly certain is Acacia Obtusifolia bark. It is very fresh and still quite sticky and moist. He can't use it for a while so will need to store it. What is the best way to do this so he loses the minimum amount of alkaloids? Does he need to dry it out before storing it? Apart from using a blender, any ideas on how to grind this tough bark up?

I think if you don't dry it it could get damaged. Unless you deep freeze it. But if you dry it good then you shouldn't have to worry about it. And you shouldn't loose any of the alkloids.

SWIM don't have the time to grind up a whole 2kg at th moment, so he is drying it out. He ground up 300g of it into around half inch to one inch peices and put it in an icecream container and will hopefully be able to start an extraction on the 300g soon. He layed all the bark out on newspaper and put it outside in a shady spot. Should it be dry by this afternoon ( a full day) or how long should he leave it?

I asked SWIM and he told me he lives in Australia. He said he travelled to a place where they grow in abundance and took small amounts from a heap of trees.

Hey zero, Depending on where you live for growing conditions you could buy some seeds. In about another 2 years you could have your own supply. I just started growing some now. So far about 6 seedlings. Thinking long term here.
