Funnel question.

Is it absolutely necessary for swim to use a stainless steel funnel to get the basified water / mhrb / naptha into the container he plans on using. Definitely need some sort of funnel due to the neck of the container, but the only funnels swim can find locally are plastic / galv / tin.

I have never had a prob with plastic. They are made to handle fuel. I believe they are PVC and have no prob with acid or bases either

It isn't absolutley neccessary to use lab grade utensiles but it is highly desirable. Lye solutions will desolved PVCs and other plastics. Over time you will start to see obvious degredation of your equipment. If purity of your product is major issue to you, you will naturally start looking for the right kit.

Interesting I have never heard that PVC can be degraded by lye or acid. I woud guess it would be more obvious in a holding container than a quick use funnel. I used to have a fluted glass funnel, it rocked.
