Ginseng anyone?

Migrated topic.

I don't take ginseng, because it makes me feel unbalanced. Maybe occasionally though, because it it such a neat root!

An herbalist trained in Chinese medicine I know was telling me that ginseng actually is considered a negative for people with a specific energetic imbalance that many Westerners have. She recommended an alternate that I can't remember off the top of my head. I'll see her this Saturday, so I will ask then.

I'm very interested in hearing about this. Please do provide an update :D

swim is studying herbalism and tried very good corean ginseng paste for a time..it doesn't seems to him it do so much, anyway ginseng is not a stimulant as caffeine drugs but an adaptogen like rhodiola, eleutherococcus and others..it means that they're good to 'adapt' your body to distress due to work of other factors. this class of compounds was studied during cold war by urss army and urss factories to increase industrial production and it seemed to work

I've tried Red Ginseng, White Ginseng, American Ginseng, Siberian Ginseng (Eleuthero root), Brazilian Ginseng (Suma), Rhodiola rosea, Rhodiola sacra (Tibetan Rhodiola), Notoginseng(Panax notoginseng), Prince Ginseng (Pseudostellaria heterophylla) and Indian Ginseng (Ashwagandha; Withania somnifera)....in varying amounts, in different forms and under various circumstances.

I prefer Ashwagandha for my psycho-physical make-up. It works best for me personally. Suma behind that. Then Rhodiola sacra, but only just before sleep....it makes me feel warm and cozy and gives very in-depth dreams....it makes me feel kind of off if I take it during the day.

I did once take a bunch of red ginseng extract and a seven ginseng extract blend, and I pushed a very heavy-ass dresser up a very awkward staircase, all by my self. It was quite a feat. I was very sick and under a lot of stress at the time. But man did I push that motherf***** up those stairs, lol. It was obviously  due to the ginseng.

If anyone wants a great source for these kinds of herbs, pm me.

jungleheart, the herb is called jiao gu lan in Chinese and it's Latin name is Gynostemma pentaphyllum. It has many of the same actives as ginseng but is considered much more yin, partially due to the part of the plant that is used.

Seems cool. I spend my time around so many guys, I could probably use some yin influence. Where could I go about finding this though?

Looks like they carry it on Amazon, and lots of other retailers have it, if you don't live in the US.
