Very soon I'm likely going to have my first experience with MDMA. It's not going to be a party setting, just at home with my girlfriend. We plan on dosing about 100-120mg.

We both tend to have a lot of muscle tension from most psychedelics, particularly in the neck and jaw. I know that's going to be an unavoidable aspect of it, but we would like to do whatever is possible to make it bearable.

I've read about taking magnesium beforehand, but I've been unable to tell whether it actually makes a difference. Does anyone have experience with it?

My girlfriend has pregabalin prescribed and takes it daily. She was planning on taking a slightly larger dose to take advantage of its muscle relaxant effects. There don't seem to be any dangerous interactions, but I don't know if it may dull the experience. Has anyone taken MDMA together with pregabalin, gabapentin, phenibut, or something similar?

I think I've read most of the common advice (stay well hydrated without drinking too much, taking 5-HTP the day after, being mindful of bodily temperature, and of course avoiding any dangerous interaction), but any advice in general will be welcome.

Have an Advil on hand for the next day in case you do end up with a tension headache etc. MDMA can leave some with a good 1-2 day glow before the real come down, which you might avoid staying under 120 mg anyway. Still the glow is real nice but a next day headache can ruin it.

5htp never really helps me after MDMA. The best advice really is to keep the dose low, don’t re-dose, and don’t stay up all night missing sleep.

It combines well with ketamine.

Be sure you are hydrated well before going in to the experience. This is better imo vs trying to just drink lots during the trip.

I didn't buy it yet, and read some conflicting reports on it. Maybe I'll skip it this time and try it the next time if I have issues.

That seems to be the key from what I've read, yes.

I may try it in the future. I'm also interested to try adding 2C-B during the comedown. But I'll save any combination for the future, for the first time I want to experience MDMA by itself.

Will do!

Thanks for the link. I'm also wondering if DMT microdoses could help if I feel down for the next days. But I may not feel down at all, we'll see. Many people claim that most of the post MDMA depression is due to lack of sleep, alcohol, dehydration, etc. instead of MDMA itself, at least as long as the dose is not very high.

I don’t get depressed after mdma unless the dose is too high for me. When it does happen though it can feel pretty bad. I think for people with more trauma as well mdma really blows the heart open. For some people it’s just such a huge thing to feel that coming back to this place can feel unbearable as you feel raw and naked and open in a world that often requires the opposite. I don’t hear this take as often when people describe the mdma comedown but I feel it’s definitely a thing.

Congrats! I've never tried MDMA, but it's the only chem substance I'd consider taking. That heart-opening is the real deal, and I've met a few who benefited from it.
In general, I'd advise low caffeine consumption, because it's a diuretic. Taking a full-spectrum multivitamin a day or two before could help as well. For example, I have lots of stuff in my multi from the link @Jamie01 provided. Magnesium works for general relaxation, so it should be good. Just don't take too much, or it could lead to diarrhea.
I'm looking forward to your review. All the best with your session. Doing it in a home setting together with a loved one is a dream. Much love ❤️

Dance!
Eat well beforehand and drink the amount you would normally, if dancing and working up a sweat drink as much as you would during and after exercise.

I took a lot good amount of E's back in the day and I never had neck tension, what you need to address is the jaw clenching, chewing, lip licking / chewing. Lots of ip Balm and Chewing Gum if needed to occupy your mouth.

If you are planning a romantic evening, you won't be thinking about your jaw, neck or anything else apart from your partner, just expect to be doing things multiple times!

Focus in the sense of just perceiving it, trying to relax it gently, "breathing into" it...?
Little bit of everything, some gentle stretching, maybe even shaking of the head. In my case, most important is just to perceive it and not allow neck muscles to block themselves into high tension.
I had few occasions when failing to do this lead to nausea and vomiting.

Just coming down now. It was a very beautiful experience, and quite therapeutic for us to talk and cuddle. Tension was far from a major problem, and a few puffs of a CBD vape helped. I would say I've had less tension than with 2C-B, miprocin, or LSD.

Just to add, the standard 50% supplementary dose early in the experience (1-1.5hrs after initial dose) is well tolerated in clinical trials of MDMA without deleterious effects in subsequent days.

I would agree that extended, multiple dosing is likely a factor in the difficulties many recreational users report, myself included BITD.

A commonly suggested supplement regimen:
ALCAR, vitamin C and magnesium glycinate before dosing
ALA every 30 minutes throughout the session

For drinking: orange juice, herbal teas, electrolytes (NaCl, coconut water...) in moderation

No caffeine from 48 h before to 48 h after

Sildenafil 24 h prior prevents MDMA neurotoxicity in rats. Some people take 25 - 50 mg the night before.

Doubledog has a point on being mindful of
the tension and consciously relaxing it though I would say it is only possible to do so after you better understand how it feels, like in the third trip onwards or after a really strong one.

I used to take magnesium tabs before and sometimes during it, also rubbed some magnesium sulfate or whatever way down there on the back of the mouth. It does help the teeth tapping somewhat but it won't really cut it, especially near peak. Doing small massages on the jaw hinges is a also a good and easy palliative. My most effective actions were chewing gums, sometimes lots of them at once to just keep it as a cushion between the teeth.

I always get headaches due to the clenching. I also used to suck up my lips until it hurts but eventually got mindful of it. Really avoid drinking too much water so you don't get hypernatraemia which also lands you in headache land.

Mdma is absolutely amazing, especially the body sensations... Candles, incenses, perfumes, body oils, massages, flowers, a good shower, a bed with clean and beautiful sheets, a loving partner... all that romantic stuff is so much worth it. I miss it so so much it...

My man, i think this side effect of MDMA is unavoidable, everybody who was in MDMA hardly avoid jaw muscular tension. Just stay hidrate, relax, take care of your enviroment, and take magnesium if you can, that will give you a muscular relaxation and facilitates flow everything. About Pregabalin i think it's not a good idea mix this, specially if it's the first experience on MDMA of your girlfriend, take off that shi 1 day before the experience, your girlfiend may have seizures o more probabilities of a serotoninergic syndrome. Take care anbd enjoy the experience of love with your girlfiend what gives the MDMA.

Pregabalin doesn't interact through any serotonergic pathway, so there's no reason to think it could increase chances of serotonin syndrome. It's also an anticonvulsant, so in any case, it would decrease the probability of seizures. Please don't make baseless claims.

Given that the risks of suddenly quitting something she has had prescribed for over a year outweighed any potential concerns of interactions, she just had her regular dose and it was completely fine.

In the end I didn't even have that much tension, it was easy dealing with the minor neck and jaw tension. It was less than I often get with LSD, and definitely much less than with miprocin, where I get a tension headache even from just 10mg.

If I go over 100 mg I will have jaw and neck tension no matter what I do. I tend to not go over 75 mg any more but I broke that rule and took like 120mg with my wife in august and it was too much and I haven’t taken it since. She did not really have any side effects. Over 120 mg the hangover is unbearable for me. 200 was the highest I have gone and there’s just no way I can relax into that, but the experiences did trump even those of 5-Me0-DMT for myself and have proved invaluable. Had I not been at outdoor raves I would have had no way to deal with those energies.

75 mg is just the best spot for me, avoiding side effects. I boost it with ketamine and the experience that results is better than either alone. These days I would rather not even take the M if I can’t do that combo.

I feel like these days I can’t even tolerate mescaline at all. I just sit there with my stomach cramping grinding my teeth with a stiff neck and end up laying in the bathtub with nsaids. 2cb was nice but still last time I tried same thing happened so I just stopped taking phens but I will keep taking MDMA 1-2 times a year because it’s so worth it. I really love mdma.
