I got Naptha, but some bookmarked links i have urge Acetone for the extraction, Should i instead get Acetone? I'm not defatting*

Also again i have Naptha, but for recrystallizing...should i stick with Naptha, Or Acetone? because Noman suggests Heptane, So should i instead use Heptane?

acetone wont work neither for defatting in a typical extraction (it mixes with water, how will you separate it?) and neither for recrystallizing (it dissolves impurities just as well as dmt, you wont be cleaning anything).

Also which tek says to use acetone, because that information is just wrong... ?

"Naphtha and acetone dissolve different things (acetone dissolves a lot more crap). You generally want to defat with the same solvent you extract with.

If you defat with naphtha, you'll pull out a small amount of gunk you don't want. If you then extract with acetone, you'll get DMT along with a whole bunch of other crap you don't want that didn't extract into the naphtha.

When you defat with acetone, you're removing all the acetone-soluble impurities, so when you extract with the acetone you'll get very little besides DMT."

So before this thread goes let me just ask, freeze/precip with naptha and re-X with heptane, figuring between the two they will get more of the nasty out?

Or stick with naptha all the way, until i get pure white?

Naptha will work, you'll just have to be more careful.
Was that a drytek that used acetone?
