Greetings one and all!

Been a lurker on this forum for a whie...and it seems everytime I searched for any worthwhile topic, results from this site would show up. Well it is time for me to join the dance.

This crazy journey into the depths of my experience had humble origins long ago. Along the way, I have watched in amazement as my present reality transformed right in front of my eyes. Not only that, I looked back and front to see my past and future also transformed. In time, that old childish feeling of wonder and curiosity returned along with a zest for the mystery of life.

Anyhow, I think it is time for me join this forum and share and exchange my experiences with others who have also taken this crazy journey.

How are your past and future transformed through your experiences? That is an interesting statement, I’d like to know more.

And i have to ask out of a desire for understanding and perhaps to open discussion: what exactly is a spacefarian? Is that like a space faring being or a dig at a culture sterotyped as drug users and nothing more?

Can you share more on how you witnessed the past and future change from your use? Sounds very interesting.

For how my reality was transformed, the main demolition crew were Ayahuasca, LSD and shrooms. The cleanup/re-intengration crew were frequent forest walks while vaping weed mixed with different herbs, mainly passion flower & damiana. Now days I prefer stronger harmalas such as caapi or syrian rue.

The eternal now...heard this phrase countless times, though I never fully comprehended the depth of it's meaning. The revelation came slowly after getting my ass handed to me by one of the demolition crew and I would gather myself back and return back to the everyday. I would constantly be surprised about how different things were.

It's a bit like going in a time machine, tinkering with things and going back to your present. Only to realize the present and the past are quite different than how you remember.

The full picture crystalized one day when high AF on weed while watching Alan Watts. He said, the past is not static it is as fluid and dynamic as the future. What we see as the past is us looking from the present and projecting a story about the events that happened before.

This process involved picking and choosing events from my past in order to tell coherent stories about it. Only problem was the demolition crew thoroughly wrecked my ideas of what was important, so the stories I told about my past made very little sense...or were just downright hilarious

Yeah it is a bit of self humor...both in the sense of exploration of that internal universe of experience and getting high AF to do it

Within physics and the observation of entropy, we can see why the past dictates the present and the present will dictate the future. Closed systems gradually move towards disorder.

Something I've personally observed is that our understandings of the past and history is always open to augmentation and interpretation because we will never get all of the data of any given past moment that made the moment what it was. And even if we could have all that data, it wouldn't be presented to us in the way that it was initially; in the past. All the same, that is a reflection of us and not the past. The past has already happened. In many ways, ontologically, it is static.

I do feel that we can reframe our own pasts however in manners that are more authentic and valuable.

I appreciate the humor. I would like to share though that the suffix "farian" is unique to Rastafarian (which based on your "high AF" comment I assume you were trying to emulate mildly), and Rastafarianism is much much more than just getting high (despite media output of that culture).

I agree, though I think the word reframe doesn't do justice to the experience. I feel it doesn't capture the emotional nature of the transformation taking place. I also agree that facts in of themselves are static and that they should form the ground of our mental landscape, or else we may thoroughly get lost.

My point is that we value facts for the meaning they give us. It is here in the creation of that meaning where things get a bit fuzzy. At the top level is a curation process where, as you said, we limit the data to what we consider relevant. In my experience this curation process can be quite arbitrary and can vary widely from person to person.

At the second level, we attach a value to each of these diverse pieces of data. Here again, this can vary widely from person to person.

Finally our reasoning process kicks in to construct a coherent story of the reality we experience. So the experience of our past can change drastically as our perception of reality expands and our values change.

Yeah our current modern society doesn't look to kindly on altered states of consciousness, whether induced via substances, naturally or other means such as illness. Personally, I am not Rastafarian, but I share deep kinship with them as my use of cannabis has allowed me to have many direct experiences with the sacred nature of reality.

Anyhow, it all boils down to the why. Why pursue these altered states of consciousness? For me, getting high AF is all about exploring the nature of reality and communing with its sacred nature. So no offense was intended by it.

When referring to "data" the emotional component is included

It's also about how we interpret facts. We often make facts mean one thing or another, effectively creating meaning, though we tend to think that the meaning we have found is external to us. And yes! Most definitely can be very arbitrary.

I love hearing it's the mystical side that has effected you so. And based on the overall sort of portmanteau of the title, my feeling was that no harm was meant. It was something that definitely caught my eye in that Rastafarianism is commonly thought of as just getting high and thus not taken very seriously, as shown by the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, a mock religion that disagrees with religion and that coin themselves "Pastafarians." There's also the negatively connotated "Trustafarian."
