GVG Sherlock simple question

Hello all you travelers!

My friend bought a GVG Sherlock recently and it came with a ceramic disk fit in (even fastened with a stainless steel ring) the top part and a mesh fit in the lower part (see pictures attached).

After reading the thread about the ceramic disk, and since he has never smoked/vapped anything, he is not really sure of one thing. It seems that in this thread, the recommendation is to put the ceramic disk instead of the mesh, which means in the lower part of this awesome device.

So here is the question:
Is it OK to put the spice on the ceramic disk fit in the top part of the GVG? Or does he need to remove the disk from that part and replace the mesh with it in the lower part?

If the disk is in the lower part, does he need to put anything in the top part? Does he even need it?

The ceramic disk referenced in the thread you linked is something you have to buy separately. It goes in the chamber of the long piece. You heat the ceramic disk that is embedded in the top piece.

With the right torch lighter, it's extremely effective.

If I understand well, my friend needs two ceramic disks. One in the top piece which he will heat with the torch lighter and one in the bottom piece which basically goes instead of the mesh and which will welcome the spice on top of it.

I hope it works for him!

That's the ticket. Look for a Healthstone vapor stone.

I have never used a gvg but from what i read on the nexus you can use multiple mesh screens or a piece of copper wool scrubber thing, like what you use in a "machine", to hold the dmt, instead of the vapor stone. In case you are eager to try before you get the additional stone.

He already ordered ceramic discs after reading the GVG ceramic disk topic and then he received his GVG and was surprised to find one already in there.

Chore boy copper scrubbers make a good mesh to sit inside the bowl. I found my homemade choreboy copper "birds nest" to be more effective than my elev8 porous ceramic stone.

Multiple screens never worked for me, melted dmt always leaked down and basically not an effective solution. And did not like copper mesh either. It gave some suspicious metallic aftertaste, no thanks.:thumb_dow

Well, replacing the initial screen with the ceramic disk and heating the other ceramic disk in the top part works like a charm.
