Had one of those epiphany moments...

The first and only time I tried to "candy flip," aka LSD + MDMA, the MDMA turned out to be meth (20 year old me, stupid stupid stupid). At the end of the trip I kept figuring out the meaning of life and forgetting it, to the point where eventually I realized I was simply cracked up from the drugs and went to bed.

I think this experience is a hallmark of doing drugs. Do any of them for long enough and you'll have everything in your life totally solved at some point while absolutely out of your gourd. And then you sober up and can't remember what the fuss was about to begin with. You consider that maybe the Chinese were on to something with wu wei, anyhow...

Couple of decades ago I wrote a paragraph or two for my dissertation, while pretty drunk. It felt like the words and logical reasonings were just pouring out of me, it went great!

The next morning, with a slight hangover, I read what I wrote. Complete garbage, utterly nonsense.

I learned something valuable, right there and then.

The illusion of perception is very strong. So strong, in fact, that ones reality floats on it.

It is quite good fun listening to conversations while sober of those around you that are tripping. The mind blowing conversation being had between the spunyuns is usually chuckle fuel for the sober person trying their hardest to follow along with the seemingly unconnected string of words.

I haven't entirely had an epiphany moment but I have written down ramblings while stoned and tripping. Sometimes it has its merits and other times I question what I was even thinking to end up with that conclusion.

But... Context is everything, and sometimes you just had to be in that right place, at the right time, with the right kind of eyes.

Last night was a weird one, had to work all yesterday and had a few beers but not a lot, got home had the tiniest of tiny tokes on the spice Vape, had a shower, watched some TV and had my usual small amount of balanced Weed (GreenJoy MGC T12:C18, proper lovey sticky bud) the weed was definitely giving me a talking to and reminding me that its good to question my thoughts, ideas and choices and to be more 'question everything' in life as my own thoughts are just one opinion and other opinions are still fully viable.

It certainly kept me entertained, and it may have been this How much should we share? that kickstarted my brain whirling!
I often wish that I could record the streams of stoned thoughts, the places I go while brushing my teeth when a bit stoned is almost always a rollercoaster, and I find it interesting because if feels like watching our own thoughts / seeing the brain think. Which probably reads like I've got a screw loose or something

But yeah, the epiphanies / ideas / questions were coming thick and fast last night and its only the little snippet above I remember properly now.

I'm wary of these high states where you seemingly get life. Our minds are storytelling machines, and they don't really care about Reason. True wisdom comes with sobriety, however my definition of it may differ from normal understanding. Insanity and sanity go hand in hand. Sometimes you need to go batshit crazy to feel yourself again.

The bulk of my inner exploration was a solitary journey, long before I started to post here. I feel it's for the best, because in retrospect I was far from stable and very far out in my thinking. Somehow these energetic shifts can persist for a while, and you find yourself in a magical world, albeit disconnected from common reality.

Now I don't pay that much attention to any insights. What's real is going to stick no matter what. It's like you've changed your working voltage from 12V to 24V, so the system adapts. It's not something you did, even if the state change was produced by your intent. It just looks so from our perspective. There is a higher intelligence guiding us all.
Call it life force or God, but it never really touches what it is. In the end, we are left with hard-earned wisdom, be it from a psychedelic opening or life struggles. The journey of life itself is the real magic here.

I do get some useful content from the stoned state, I'm not a THC chaser and I have better things to do that feel strung out or jittery, though that useful content never usually gets written down but its usually creative when I do jot something down. Plus my reason for Vaping Bud once each evening is primarily medical and on prescription, though aside from Neuropathic pain control I get secondary benefits from Cannabis.

That need to rationalize our drug use (especially with cannabis) comes mostly from social stigma. If we just follow social norms, we should work, pay taxes, and die. Who can really judge you besides yourself? We are adults and should have sovereignty over our minds and lives. You know what works for you, so why create any reasoning? Yes, we all need a story to weave our lives together, but that's just it. Our psyches function that way. You're much more than that biological (?) mechanism.

Even the Bible tells us that we are judged after death and need to pay the price for our deeds. But who can judge us apart from life? Are you somehow different from life? You're judging yourself always. When you realize that you're both the judge and the one being judged, it brings clarity and perspective. Better start now when we're alive, and it'll be easier to navigate after-death states. Don't take any of it personally. It's just my rant on the topic. I dislike all forms of shackles, especially when we put them on ourselves.

I hear that a dedicated voice recorder with a physical button works wonders to capture these moments of inspiration ;)

That would be far too organised and I'd have to pretend I'm talking to the cat to avoid the mental niggle of speaking out loud to myself, I'd probably be happier Public speaking!
