SWIM is a long time psychedelic user but new to DMT. Looking for medicinal information for depression and anxiety micro-dosing in addition to assistance with extraction techniques and trip guidance.

SWIM has much experience with LSD and Mushrooms. He wants to be in control of his substances and is experimenting also with Mushroom growing with little success.

SWIM got some jungle spice for too much money. It did allow for some exploration but now after learning more wonders about that substance and what it really is. This scares SWIM and makes him want to be in control of making his own crystal for known purity and safety.

Swim found that extracting DMT was a reasonable process and so set out to give it a try. So he orders:

100g Mimosa Hostillis
2 cans of Naphtha
2lbs Lye

SWIM is excited when everything arrives and decides on A/B tech:

50g Mimosa Hostillis
about 2 cups water and 10% vinegar
Low heat for 4 hours stirring as needed.
Separate liquid and add to jar PH @ 3.3
Add lye until liquid reaches PH 13.5 and turns black (this took about 5g)
Add naphtha (70ml). Swish around, separate, 4 or 5 times, over a few hours.
Room temp may have been under 70f
Pull off naphtha leaving a small layer.
Freeze for 4 hours. No crystals.
Put naphtha back in freezer overnight.
Very few crystals no measurable weight.
Sadness and frowns.

So then SWIM is wondering if he has bunk powder cause cant see why there would be failure.

SWIM decides to run another 50g with STB Tech:

50g Mimosa Hostillis
700ML Tap water
50g Lye
Add Lye to water
Add solution to powder in jar.
Add naphtha (50ml). Swish around, separate, 4 or 5 times, over a few hours.
Room temp over 70f
Pull off naphtha leaving a small layer.
Freeze for 4 hours. .25g crystals.
Put naphtha back in freezer overnight.
Very little more crystals no measurable weight.
Very happy... 2nd pull .22, 3rd pull .11 > 1% return

SWIM wonders why A/B Tech failed? Swim still has aqueous layer for the A/B Tech. Should have .5+ in it. Any way to save or did SWIM loose it? He will not be broke up if it is lost just curious and not wanting to waste.

SWIM Thinks A/B is a cleaner tech cause powder is mostly strained. His assumption is the powder will continue to break down in the aqueous layer causing contaminants to more likely to be present on successive pulls.

Being in control of your material is always better than inhaling what someone with maybe not the purest intentions cooked up.

Regarding your extractions: The second TEK looks very good to me and you were satisfied as well. There are some minor improvements that I can suggest, for example use less water. The more concentrated the lye solution is the easier it is to get the good stuff out. It also helps with phase separation. If tap water in your place is chlorinated, do not use it. Use still bottled water or distilled water.

Regarding your failed A/B extraction:
I don't understand why those TEKs are still around. They CAN work, but IMHO they are inferior to STB TEKs, especially for novices. There is something I do not get from your description: Did you filter off the plant material from your vinegar cooking? Another important thing: Is your Mimosa bark finely powdered or in coarse chunks? Fine powered is better, especially for acidic extractions.

This is what I would do: Add more lye to the aqueous layer. Go for maximal basicity! You used 10x the amount of lye in your successful extraction. If your aqueous phase does not contain the solid plant material any more, add it back in, to basically save your failed try by turning it into the STB TEK. My guess would be that you still have most of the spirit in the root bark, because the initial acid extraction with vinegar failed.
 
Thank you for responding. I think you are correct that the spirit is still in the bark. yes it was fine powder. Yes it was strained and discarded.

SWIM is now going to research proper disposal of the remaining liquids and read allot more.

SWIM ran another extraction yesterday and took both suggestions using distilled water and less water. He adjusted my method to use 500ml of water for a 50g extraction with 50g lye. This worked super well over a 1% return.

This extraction all three pulls had yellow goo. The fist one was pretty light on the yellow stuff and it crystalized pretty quick. The second pull there was allot more and took longer for it to crystalize. The third pull had some as well but not so gooey and crystalized fast.

The resulting spice from the first and third pull is white with a slight yellow tinge. The resulting spice from the second pull is very yellow.

From my reading the yellow goo is DMT-Oxide? Should SWIM further refine? We are assuming this was just present in this batch of root bark powder and not a result of the increased lye to water.

Welcome, glad you're here and getting good use of this space.

Just a tiny bit of advice though, consider that Placerville isn't that big of a town, and that SWIM is no level of security at all. I've revealed my location before but that's because my presence is diluted by a million other idiots and I'm not concerned about the community or LEO's attention. That may be hypocritical of me, but your town is pretty damn small, if that is your location.

Yes it is. Was noticing that on my posts probably as you posted it. Placerville isn't my exact location but still your point is taken well.

SWIM is pleased with his return. Just finished 3rd pull and it looks like I got about .7g on 50g of root bark.
