That would be insane! What one does is repeat the same process over and over again expecting different results.

My friend just wanted to ensure that he wasn't just getting the wrong part of the plant which is why he used various parts. Also he used more NaOH and less Naphtha. Small variants, to see the difference - if any - it makes (which it obviously didn't), but if it came down to one of these parts that was the problem, he wouldn't have to get more solvent.
Anyway, he is getting more solvent and equipment in the next hour and will be attempting another method.
