Hi Nexus. I hope things are going well.
I've done a little research about the Heffter Research Institute, which I'm sure you know a lot of.
I have to say that I am impressed by the high profile scientists that integrate the "Board of directors" and the work that they have done about psychedelics throughout the years. This Institute seems to be very interested in researching substances like MDMA, LSD and Psilocybin, but not so much substances like N,N-DMT, although that doesn't mean that they haven't researched it in a meticulous manner before. They also seem to be working more in the medical area, (I guess that is obvious) and trying to find and prove the "medical potential" of some psychoactives rather than trying to explain the spiritual area related to this experiences. All that being said, I think they are doing an amazing job. But I have 5 questions that probably the Nexus will be interested in giving their opinion or clarify some things that may be useful to this thread.
1.- Is the Cottonwood Research Foundation intimately related with the Heffter Research Institute?
2.- Do you think the HRI is trying to obtain "new knowledge" about psychedelics or is mostly trying to show the mainstream scientific community another perspective about psychedelic substances?
3.- "The Johns Hopkins University Psilocybin and Cancer Study" and the "National Geographic Explorer Doc: Inside LSD" both have reached the media and the ears and eyes of regular citizens around the world, the HRI was involved in certain way in both projects. Does this mean they are trying to fight for the decriminalization of psychedelics (like MAPS) or its just about showing some research with no intention of changing the laws regarding them?
4.- Do you think it is important to have another "big research project" about N,N-DMT soon, or should this scientists wait?
5.- Are they "the cutting edge" of psychedelic scientific research, or are there other groups/institutes that we should be aware of?
Thanks for your time.
