If you know any papers regarding the risks of psychosis, I don’t have any history of mental illness in my family other than depressive episodes I’ve had in the past. I definitely need to read up more on the risks before I introduce this to anyone, as I know I’ve had good experiences so far, but I have also heard of the traumatic experiences some people have had. Though I thought I heard somewhere that the ratio of good to bad experiences leans closer to good experiences, I know there’s still not been a lot of clinical research performed with DMT yet.
No, sorry, I do not know of any specific papers regarding the risk of psychosis. Unfortunately, I can't help you with that.
I was mainly speaking from personal observations, I had a friend who used to take high doses or frequent doses of what-ever-type-of-substance he could get his hands on. Including etheogens, and had a bunch of psychosis as a result of that.
One day another friend of ours gave us (I think it was one single dose of mushrooms) red dragon strain mushrooms, I don't remember the weight, but I think it was for one person. So we chopped it up, took some harmala and a small dose of DMT freebase that I had lying around, I think it was 80mg each.
1.75g P. Cubensis (if 3.5g is a normal dose and we cut it in half, I think this was the dose that we took)
8g Harmala (read the red warning, kindly do
not replicate this dose simply because I state it here, thank you very much)
80mg freebase DMT (taken orally)
I used to prepare harmala seeds the same way, crushing 8g with the stem and mortar (which was a lot of work)
and then pour hot water from the water cooker over them, in a cup of around 220ml. This was a safe dose for a lot of people, but I gave the same dose to somebody else, and they had a severe adverse reaction from it. For the unexpected reader stumbling on this comment, kindly do not replicate this dose simply because you read that I used this dosage. Thank you very much.
I think this was the dose we took that night, while he and I did noticed effects, we were able to have a coherent conversation and also did go to the forest and were able to navigate the home - forst pathway quite clear without any problems, with all tends and purposes this was a light dose for us both. A few days later, he started showing psychosis signs and a 2 weeks later he was involuntary admited to a psych ward.
I know it's forbidden on this forum to generalize, but I think it should be allowed to say that it's wise to take caution with entheogens, I'm not implying that OP
@sginga mentioned unsafe practices.
About other reports of other people, whenever I find a new plant-based substance and I order it or plan to order it. I notice that I always do a deep dive, be it on this forum or Erowid. And read trip reports of others as much as possible. I think it's mainly because I do not have the physical substance in possession and thus want to be as "close" to it as possible by reading about it. Sometimes I gain new information (tips) other times I might read about warnings, which can help me in the long run.
If you like DMT, then perhaps you could look into harmala as an add-on to DMT or as a standalone substance.
Make sure to not combine harmala with pharmaceutical medication, liquor, or any hard drugs, and always start low with harmala in whatever form you take it. I had taken DMT a couple of times before I combined it with DMT.
But... DMT + Harmala is like Lignam + Yoni.
I made a comment about harmala the other day which I will not paste here, but I will include the link as it contains some tips about different forms of harmala, and the comment included two other links.
