hello all,
ive been in and out of the nexus but never needed to make an account. so much useful information is easy to find.


but ive been drawn here with a question.


a typical newbie one.


well,
i am well known with the stb tek
have done it many times with great results,


but recently i decided to try a/b.

i messed up from teh start,


i mixed 250ml of vinegar and 1000ml of water with 300g of mhrb and boiled for 2 hours.

and i then removed sludge from the rest and put them in to different containers, added lye
and went on with the naptha pulls.


i had little to no yield,
so i added the rest of my lye and some ph plus..still nothing
and i was wondering if there was anything i can do to save the spice in my mix

You are suppose to add lye to the vinegar solution and discard the sludge...
The spice has 'salted' ...migrated to the solution and that neeeds to be 'based' and then pull.

To which container did you add the lye? Did you add it to the MHRB sludge or to the acidic solution?

I remember the first time I did a Q21Q21 dry tek I boiled in vinegar for 15 minutes, added lye and found I had hardly any yield. After that I added a whole lot of extra lime to the container, mixed thoroughly and mixed it daily for a whole week. When I did add the naphtha I did have a very nice yield after that.

If you still have your mhrb around: Boil it two more times for three hours in acidic water, combine the water from the boils and reduce to a manageable amount and then add lye again. If you added your lye to the mhrb, mix it in with the acidic water, stir well and let it sit for a few hours.

when doing an acid boil you're trying to dissolve the alkaloids into the aqueous phase. pH 4 is best. Multiple washes should be done on your plant material and water should be pooled together. A lot of people don't do this step and throw over half of the alks away...

Once you strained the water the best you can (threw t-shirts or whatnot) you want to defat while the water is hot with a non-polar solvent. pull a few times (letting naptha sit for 20 mins each) and this will get most of the stuff you don't want out of there. discard of this solvent or recycle it if you have the means. DMT will not come with it because it is still in it's salt form.

From here add NaOH until the pH is 14. The solution will be black. The DMT has been converted to the non-polar freebase. Now the DMT will dissolve in the non-polar solvent. Again you want to wash with your non-polar solvent multiple times, letting each wash sit for a while and mixed in occasionally (for about 20 minutes each). Each pull should come up a golden yellowish color. Keep repeating until the solvent comes up almost clear. The black solution can be room temp, but you want your solvent to be heated a little by use of a double boiler. be careful when heating NPS, they are extremely flammable.

Reduce your total NPS volume to at least half, put in an air tight container and freeze (at least -4 - -8 C) decant off the solvent and save it for next time, or reduce it and refreeze

dry it by setting the container next to a fan upside down on a newspaper or something. you want them to be bone dry before scraping, because moisture in the air will make you lose product if they are still wet

and i added lye already, and when i pull,
i get nothing,

if you saved your plant material, then yes. then combine that water with whatever you have after reducing the volume
