Help for a newbie

This will be my third time attempting to extract from MHRB. My first 2 attempts didn't seem to give me what I think it should be seeing. My second attempt I know forgot and used tap water instead of distilled. I was trying the AB Tek I believe its called. The bark to water then vinegar, lye let it heat then naptha to extract, pull naptha and freeze looking for crystals. Of course waiting period between steps. All I ever got was brownish powder. I have not had the chance to experience it so I am trying to make it. Is there a Tek you guys would recommend for newbies? Before I get crazy and make a bunch I want to make sure the experience is what I am hoping for. I tried looking through the threads but didn't seem to find what I needed. [[redacted by mod]] TIA

All the TEKs in the wiki are tried and true. I've been using Noman's DMT for the masses since 2009 and it reliably delivers white to off white crystals. I do not use distilled water. But I follow the instructions very carefully on how much to add, when to add, what to do, I give things extra time, I really take my time and it works reliably.

Other than mediocre TEK your issue could possibly be bunk bark. But I'd say try Noman's or one of the ones in the Wiki and really follow the directions carefully before assuming the problem is your bark.
