Hello friends, first post here. I can’t seem to finish my first extraction and would be very grateful for some advice, I have several questions. I realize I’m not supposed to post about things that have already been discussed but some of my questions are a bit specific and also I just can’t seem to find what I need, new to this forum and navigating it, so apologies if I do. First I want to say thank you in advance for the welcome and the help! So I got some mhrb and did the acid base, I used a crock pot and did two batches of 500g with vinegar, salt, lye and naphtha. My very first pull was great, white Chrystal’s, 2nd pull wasn’t bad. But I just can’t seem to get it to pull any more out. Keep getting goo, tried introducing clean naphtha, same thing, tried heating it, same thing. I know there’s more in there, I will have some follow up questions but first I’m wondering, 1) how long is the aqueous solution good to sit waiting to pull from it? 2) how do I check the ph of said solution when it’s mixed with the mhrb?(I can’t tell what color the paper tabs are turning and I can’t get reliable results from my digital ph meter) 3) what are the best temps for each step that requires a specific temp range? (Like heating the naphtha before introducing it, and while mixing it) 4)how to bring back a bad emulsion? Again thank you!

4. Heat for longer, stir periodically. I just had to break up emulsions. It can take a while.

Another note. It would be way easier if you extract from a smaller amount. It's also more efficient in pulling the maximum amount of DMT.

I have an electronic/digital ph meter but idk if I’m just doing it wrong but it seems unreliable and inconsistent. I can never tell if it’s correct. And yeah I know to do smaller amounts now and in the future I will but that doesn’t help me get what’s left out of what I have.. thank you

This sounds like a classic case of going too big, and too soon. There's good reasons that scaled-up extractions are discouraged here.

You're going to have to break this down into the details. Consider using some paragraph breaks for clarity.

I wouldn't get too hung up about the pH measuring. If you've added sufficient lye and didn't use an excess of vinegar this is essentially a non-issue, plus pH probes tend to get degraded in solutions of high pH. It's mainly the size of your extraction that's the problem. Bulk effects start to come into play, like mixing problems, and the issue of surface area to volume ratio.

What kind of container are you using? Are you sure that it's base resistant?

I'd suggest you split your extraction into a number of smaller volumes and treat each one like it's a sensibly-sized one.
