Hi all,
A friend has yet to attempt an extraction but has just made his first MHRB order. as a UKer, naphtha is a little hard to come by, he can get it but maybe not pure and/or cost effective.
He have read about Heptane being better and may be able to obtain this or Hexane which he has heard of being used as well, both lab grade.
Can anyone with a bit of chemistry knowledge please explain which of these would be best and/or most cost effective:
Hexane isomer mix glass distilled (£7.50 2.5l)
Hexane isomer mix HPLC grade (£7.50 2.5l)
or
n-Hexane 95% HPLC Grade (£10.00 2.5l)
Heptane is available but is double the price
Heptane HPLC Grade (£20.00 2.5l)
n-Heptane Glass Distilled Grade (£20.00 2.5l)
Obviously cost wise he would like to use Hexane but as he's no chemist a little lost on which would be best/purest.
Thanks in advance for anyone who helps out, as soon as he makes a decision on the non-polar solvent he can really crack on!
