Hello everyone, finally got to doing the HIELO Tek properly. Anyways everything went relatively well. Aside from a bit more EA absorbing into the material than expected.

The thing is, no water layer is forming after fridge rest. Should I just continue or maybe use the freezer or another way of dehydrating?

Then it may just be that it doesn't have much water to begin with. If no water layer has formed overnight in the fridge, I would just proceed to the next step. As I understand it, the purpose of the water layer step is to remove excess water, not to dry the solvent completely. As you will add a bit of water together with the citric acid.

Before. The step where you're meant to separate the water and EA layers right after your pulls.
If your paste mix was relatively dry to start with, the EA won't have pulled excess water anyhow. The fridge rest is to remove excess water, which won't happen if it's not there in the first place.

Well, already did go through the drying thing but still feel a bit safer. It was sorta cloudy before I added the soda(clouded up in the fridge) so there was some water, idk exactly how much but I feel more precise with this.

Anyways after drying like this is a teaspoon of water for salting still enough?

Also thanks for the quick replies.

Yes, the teaspoon of water should be correct for bringing the moisture content of the solvent back into a suitable range for salting if you're using the corresponding volume of EA as detailed in the HIELO method, although you might want to add a 'lucky' drop or two extra to make up for the chemical drying you did by adding the soda.
