Hippie Salad Tek v 2.0 -- I used NaOH instead of sodium carbonate or calcium hydroxide

Forgive my dyslexic tendencies and help me out of the wonderful mess I made.... )-:

I was following the Hippie Salad Tek by dreamer042 using 100g of phalaris. I had done 3x30 hot water pulls and had reduced it down to about 5ml of black syrup. Then I added about a tablespoon of NaOH or maybe I'd guess 5g. (Yeah, I really need to buy a scale. )

The instructions said to add NaOH or CaCo until it becomes cookie dough. My dyslexia kicked in and I put lye in even though I have sodium carbonate I prepared from baking soda.

This lye came in big chunks and I stirred it in bit by bit until it stopped dissolving. I still didn't have cookie dough and there were giant chunks of NaOH.

I've done this tek before with not-phalaris and I knew something was wrong. I tried waiting but I couldn't resist and started doing the sunflower oil pulls. The gunk mixed perfectly with the oil and then I waited. Now its formed a dense black cookie dough and I've realized my error.

I have no idea what I've done or how to proceed from here. Can I try pulling with oil? I don't if this would work because I imagine that the sunflower oil I already put in has dissolved the DMT and it now appears to be super emulsified. Or perhaps I should try pulling with acidic water, and then proceeding from the start?

It looks like you made phalaris sunflower soap. I dont know any easy way to separate the soap out.

Sorry but you re gonna have to throw the whole thing out, as ouro said, you made some soap. And probably too much NaOH to make it a usable soap...

Well, after going back to the field to collect more phalaris I realize it was probably all for the better. That phalaris I collected, although green was from the old growth.

Now I have the new growth and a bunch of roots to keep growing!

The soap works wonderfully by the way. I've never made soap before and I'm pleased to have done such a good job; on the first try too. DMT on the other hand is making me earn it-- I'm on my fifth try over all, and third now with phalaris.

Let's hope the third try is the charm.

I just want to point out that when working with wild phalaris grass what you end up extracting may contain very little or even no DMT. It will more likely be a mix of various alkaloids, some of which may be rather undesirable to ingest.

I'm sure you all probably already know this, but I cannot stress enough that wild grass is NOT a good DMT source. Unless you have the equipment to analyze your end product and find out exactly what is in there, I highly highly highly advise against ingesting any wild grass extract.

Thanks dreamer042, I'm aware . Its good that you're spreading the word in case someone gets the idea that it is a good source.

I'm working on getting things together to do chromatography right now. Then I can analyze and possibly separate unwanted alkaloids like gramine and 5meoDMT. I'm hoping my source is rather pure, because I think I have Phalaris Aquatica, and it is most certainly italian. Hence possibly AQ-1.
