How did/do indigenous people use Morning Glory seeds?

Migrated topic.
I read somewhere that they did the good old water extract. Ground seeds soaked overnight in water. Water poured off and drunk.

Also, I think the native Americans used Rivea corymbosa as opposed to the common Morning Glory Ipomoea purpurea and I think it's supposed to be more potent. I'm not 100% confident about that but do think the natives had access to a species we don't see commonly.

Then, people have talked about differences between Ipomoea purpurea and Ipomoea violacea as well, I dunno. I think that one's more of a species confusion.
