How Many Pulls?/When to Dispose Soup

Hello all.

I'm brand new to the DMT extraction world and I've been searching on google and different forums for a while and I can't seem to find the answers I'm looking for even though these seem like they would be common questions...

I'm currently using Noman's Tek with all of the measurements recommended for 50g MHRB. I'm using a 1 quart mason jar to mix. But instead of using jars when I freeze precipitate the naphtha, I'm using a flat Pirex dish because it's much easier to scrape off the crystals. And instead of pouring the naphtha through coffee filters, I'm just pouring it back into my mixing jar to reuse it. Also adding a little more naphtha to compensate for whatever was lost during evaporation.

Now, for the big question(s)... How many times can I pull from my mixture? I'm obviously not looking for a magic number because I know there isn't one. But if it keeps producing crystals, should I keep going? Is there a chance that the crystals collected from later pulls may be less potent or not contain any DMT at all? Not only am I a noob when it comes to extracting, I'm also pretty clueless when it comes to even the most basic chemistry.

Then there's the next question, assuming it is ok to keep pulling... Is there any harm in letting the lye/MHRB/water mixture sit for long periods of time and continuing to reuse it? I've been leaving it sealed in the mason jar in a cool dark space while my naphtha is in the freezer overnight. I just wonder if it could "go bad" or begin to produce something less favorable during later extractions.


Thank you in advance for your replies. In the future, I plan to experiment with different teks until I find one that balances high yields with good clean product. Noman's seemed like a good one to start with only risking 50g of root bark in case something went wrong. So far the yields haven't been anything to brag about, but the product I've produced has been amazing.

the amount of pulls you do depends on how much work you are willing to put in to see what you will get next time.
if time, money, energy etc is no issue then there is no reason why you cant just keep pulling until you get nothing back. crystals towards the end will still be worth keeping. i tend to find my later pulls end up more yellow than early pulls, but that yellow stuff is still very high quality.
any particularly dirty looking pulls get put aside to be cleaned later down the line, but that is just my personal choice, there are plenty of good reviews about the various forms of DMT.
anyway, back to the point, i usually stop when i pull less than 100mg, unless it is an early pull. the temptation to keep going is always there, but when you have more MHRB in the freezer you just have to remind yourself you can get much more from that.
i only have 3 extractions under my belt though, so my experience is minimal.

leaving the bark in the lye solution is fine. as far as i know you can leave it in there indefinitely, but if i am wrong then the threshold is something like months or years, certainly longer than you are likely to leave it for.
i believe the solution pulls more plant fats if it has been sat for an excessive amount of time, but i could be wrong about that. even so, the result is still good, clean crystals, just slightly yellow ones.

Sometimes it seems like I can just keep pulling infinitely... But at some point the yields are so low that it just feels like I'm wasting my time. Even though that small amount might still be enough for a single dose.

I've also been having fun experimenting with the different colors/consistencies that produce over time. I've actually been separating the white, yellow and waxier yellow/brown scrapings and trying the same dosages of each type to see if I notice a difference. So far, they have all blown my fucking head off almost equally.

I initially got into extracting just to save money by producing my own DMT rather than paying entirely too much to get it from sketchy people. But I've been having a blast learning the different techniques and I've gained a new appreciation for the chemistry involved in producing such an amazing substance. I just hope my MHRB hook up never disappears on me lol

yea i understand the temptation to keep going, even 30mg is sacred enough to make it worth spending hours extracting
my last extraction got to that point, but when i went for another pull i got about 5-10 1mm crystals hahah so i knew that was enough i just threw the crystals back in the solvent to help saturate it for my next run.

the differences between the forms/colours are minimal, it seems to be mostly placebo. there is a good amount of research done by people now that seems to be suggesting that is the case, but our experiences are our experiences and the placebo effect can be very real in its own way.

your situation sounds exactly like mine
about 3 months ago i joined here with the exact same story, i was sick of paying crazy prices for it. i use it for therapy as well as recreation so i was spending far too much.
i started to really enjoy the chemistry side of things before i even started my first extraction and i swear i had a huge smile on my face for the whole ~8 hours it took me to do it :lol:
since then i have looked into other potential, similar chemistry journeys to take my curiosity to the next level. i have not actually done anything else yet due to money limits, but next up is either a caffeine extraction or GHB. not because i can use any of those (not interested in either), but because they seem like logical next steps.
i also want to slowly build my stock of proper lab equipment and use that for simple things like DMT extractions so i can get used to using it and refine my techniques.
it really is a very exciting topic, i just wish i noticed that when i was in school!


good luck on your path. there are some VERY knowledgeable chemistry enthusiasts and professionals here and all have been very friendly to me so far (this forum seems to filter out the trolls and time wasters pretty well), so i am sure you will find this place to be useful for pushing your knowledge further. it can be a little slow to get responses, but the quality vs quantity is top notch here compared to any other forum i have been a member of.

I've no magic number of pulls, just let the pull cool down to room temp, blow over surface, if no white traces form then I call it a day. Pulling on 40degC though (100degF).
