Rising Star
After having made the accidental and happy acquaintance of 4-FA in a previous episode, the time had come to advance the search for the perfect functional stimulant/nootropic by engaging in a morning of experimentation with its distant cousin, 2-FMA.
As such it came to pass that 10mg of the substance (a low dose, by any standards) were ingested after having had a light breakfast about two hours earlier.
For the first hour, as expected, not much happened. Gradually, a slight and then growing (but never alarming) sense of anxiety was sensed, and deep breathing exercises were performed to keep the lingering anxiety in check.
There developed some novel sensations around the neck area, which were dismissed as mind tricks.
At around T +1h20, a HR monitor was attached and, confirming this noble experimenter suspicions, it was elevated (90, sitting down; normal is 55-60). Not just that, over the next hour it was also noted that it fluctuated wildly from down to 70 back to 90 and sometimes up to 100 in seemingly random fashion - there was no physical moviment other than writing and typing on the keyboard during this period.
Getting up to urinate proved to be even more interesting, as the HR jumped into the 120-130's just from getting up.
It is worth nothing that the anxiety had been conquered and was no longer a factor, therefore the high HR should not be attributed, even partially, to that.
In terms of headspace it was pretty disappointing. I did end up doing what I set out to do (remember, the premise was evaluating 2-FMA as an effective nootropic/stimulant), but I would say that it happened more because I had set my mind up to it anyway and not because the compound exerted pressure in that direction.
At around T +2h it was noticed that touching the skin felt unusually good, and as usual, the resident feline basked in the glory of psychoactive-powered cuddles as sensory input (namely, touch, but also olfact to an appreciable extent) was magnified enough to make this an interesting activity while under the influence.
A quick mirror check confirmed that pupils were very dilated.
At around T+3h45 I closed down the trip journal as it was obvious that the effects were not worthy of writing down.
Some time later I went for a walk, which left me more tired than otherwise expected.
And to top it off, today (one day after), there's an hangover.
To sum it up, to this experimenter this substance has been crossed off the list, as it delivered little to no positive effects and plenty of side effects at the lowest possible dose.
1/10 would not recommend.
