Interesting experience

Tricholoops

Esteemed member
The other day, I ran into some old Cactus extract, made from dried grafting leftovers.

Interestingly enough, I tried the extract, in a small dosage, just as to gauge its strength, and it made me sleep.
It took me to my bed, and I rested like I rarely do. Afterwards, I got up with an improved feeling regarding my pain issues.

It makes me wonder if there might be a significant ammount of MAOI in some cacti, like T. bridgesii, and Lophophora varieties, as to have interacted with some medication.

As a test, a pure San Pedro extract was tried, and this time there was no sleep, just lots of energy, no pain, and great blessings and epiphanies.
It makes me think there are cacti that contain either MAOI or other actives that can potentiate other actives.
Has anybody else had a similar impression?

You may enjoy perusing Trouts resource Cactus Chemistry by Species.

When you mention an old extract curious what form the extract was in. Did you have any previous experience with that extract?

3-4-dimethoxyphenethylamine and quercetin appear in there. Some studies show those have MAOI activity. Lots of compounds in there though that I am not familiar with.

My guess like other plants, certain varieties could be stronger than others in their chemical makeup depending on genetics, growing, stress, light, region and other factors.

Thanks a lot for the link, DTE!

I think my pregabalin might be dulling my experiences.
Its a bummer, for I really rely on it for a decent sleep, and for pain management.
Even though I may stop for a few days, its already too much into my system, it seems.

I've had the same extract, with very different outcomes, which suggests there's another vector in play.

It is interesting how much medicines that cause dependence, or at least some kind of strong interaction with the body (I never felt anything with pregabalin, but some people swear it gives withdraws).

Guess I never ran too much into this issue before because I was both away from plants, and also, relapsing from the pregabalin a lot, which I guess, despite the fact its bad for the sleep/pain, its good for the health as in general.

BTW, I must thank the staff for the little baptism, I thank for the name and accept it with pride, just wanted to make it clear that my nick was in reference to the plant's flowers little hairs, which are fascinating, I'm sorry but I only saw them once in person. Pls, bear with my fascination.

What doses of pregabalin are you taking? I personally haven't observed dulling of effects with 300mg pregabalin and DMT, LSD, or 2C-B (the most relevant here). And I don't take it daily so I don't have much tolerance. But of course it can vary a lot from one person to another.

Does seem like with past experience with the extract under ones belt it may point to another factor, which is always hard to chase down with any certainty.

I get really sleepy when I microdose LSD and psilocybin in certain dose ranges. Usually on the lower end of the microdose range is when it is all yawns and tiredness for me. Like if a batches micro sweet spot is 1.1ml and I do .6-.8ml ( with volumetric dosing ). I haven't much microdose experience with mescaline though but since you mentioned it was a small dose figured maybe worth a mention.

I have no experience with pregabalin, honestly had to search it to know what was being conversed.
