Long-time lurker, first-time member. This is my first gardening season. I've been growing phalaris aquatica var. tanit, salvia divinorum, psychotria nexus, leonotis leonurus, salvia greggii, salvia farinacea x longispicata, and salvia guaranitica. I have some datura metel, acacia retinodes, and some trichocereus spp. germinating right now (torres + torres x yowie, icaros x ss02). I'm looking forward to having good conversations.

Welcome to the Nexus!

You got quite a good garden there, very interesting plants. Do you already have experience with some of them? I really like how Daturas look, when I have a garden I'll grow some for sure even if I won't consider consuming them. Same for Burgmansia.

Are you growing Salvia divinorum and Psychotria outdoors?

Looking forward to see how your plants do this season.

All of my plants are outside, in zone 9b. I've got my nexus and divinorum in a greenhouse. The greenhouse stays open most of the time, I use it as a shade structure for the most part. The plants are doing so well.

I consider myself an experienced user of salvia divinorum. I have a lot of love for it. I have experience with datura. I mostly use low oral doses as an oneirogen. I have had two experiences with an A/B extraction of phalaris aquatica. I did the extraction, but the plant matter was gifted to me. I have had one trichocereus experience with an unidentified, commercially acquired sample of dried san pedro powder; I brewed that into a tea and drank it at a festival. It was nice, but underwhelming. Big fan. I have no experience with the acacia retinodes, any of the non-divinorum salvia species, or the leonotis leonurus. I'm excited to have enough harvested material from each plant to attempt a tincture.

edwardbernays,

Welcome to formal membership. So far you sound like a great fit. So smart to grow your own medicines in these uncertain times with a tainted drug supply.

Do you have any gardening pictures you might be willing to share?

I know you will find many like minded folks here. Basically anyone here lucky enough to have access to outdoor gardening space or even a South facing window are growing something entheogenic, :D.

I am curious. How do you consume your salvia divinorum. Smoked dose or a quid? Both?

Psychedelic botany ftw.

I do have pictures I'm willing to share, I just need to strip the exif metadata first. It's not terribly hard, it's just tedious and I have executive function issues.

I LOVE salvia divinorum in a tinctur. It's definitely my preference when I have it available. However, I've only found acceptable tincture from one vendor. I've attempted to make it myself to poor result. I'm going to keep trying. I like the effects of quidding, but the taste gets to me. I hope to harvest enough between this and next season to attempt a flavored chewing gum formulation.

My most common RoA is smoking. I prefer small bowls on a six-shooter type revolving water pipe. I'll pack the first bowl with a lot of plain leaf (about 2 grams), the second bowl with mostly plain leaf and a tiny sprinkle of 10x extract (1.5g leaf, 0.1g extract), the third bowl with a little more 10x extract (1.5g leaf, 0.2g extract), the fourth bowl entirely plain leaf again (about 3g), the fifth bowl with about as much 10x as the third bowl (1.5g leaf, 0.2g extract), and the sixth bowl is maybe 0.5g of 10x extract without any plain leaf.

This gives me a smoking ceremony that lasts about an hour and never gets uncomfortably intense. I am lucky enough to experience no dysphoric effect from salvia divinorum. I'm abstaining from marijuana for employment purposes, so I've found salvia divinorum to be a welcome substitute. The only issue is that it's such an effective antinociceptive that I've scalded myself in a hot shower once or twice after partaking.

Another formulation I'm looking forward to experimenting with is curing phalaris aquatica extract onto salvia divinorum leaf. I expect this combination to be very welcoming. I also want to attempt a crystallization extraction from salvia divinorum.
