IPA for salvia extract ?

Hi,

I will soon receive salvia leafs from maya and would like to make my own extract, however my acetone is only 30%+ pure (the rest being water)
but I have 99.9% IPA, so do you think I could defat 3x with naphta then extract with IPA ?

I would just make the acetone anhydrous with magnesium sulfate or find some other acetone that has less water in it and do the same.

Actually I'm a total newbie on salvia, do you think defating is really necessary to make 10x extracts (that I will vap in a GVG) ?

If you're going to use IPA to extract, I'm really not sure. IPA will probably pick up more of the fats and impurities. I've only ever used chilled acetone. You keep it as chilled as possible, so the extraction times are very short, that way you don't pick up many impurities. You could use acetone that has some water in it, but it would be a much longer evaporation time.

I suppose you could just try to extract with IPA without defatting at all.

Vaping salvia in a GVG didn't work as well as the same dose in a bong, the vaporization point of salvinorin a being very high.
As for the defatting, you don't have to, just makes the extract cleaner. But a chilled acetone pull would be right for a first 10X extract already.

No need to defat later. You could use IPA and naphtha to purify it after extracting with chilled acetone, but that's only if you wanted to get near pure salvinorin A.

Ok, so I extracted 13g of salvia with 250ml -20C acetone thrice and evaped it on 1g of mullein, however there's green powder on the sides of the evap dish, do you think I should
scrape it and mix it with the mullein ? I guess it's chlorophyl + maybe salvinorin A. but i'm not sure...

Well, this extraction was a failure, all I can achieve when smoking this 10x salvia enhanced mullein is a sedating effect... I guess it wasn't a good idea to use mullein :/

Maybe the shisha wasn t a good device. Water bong really is the way to go. You need to take all the smoke fast nd keep it ten to twentyseconds to manage getting there. Slow smoke or fast exhale makes a sedating nd light psychelic effect.

Yes yes. Don't give up yet. Try hitting it through a bong while holding the flame to the material the entire time you inhale. Then hold the smoke for at least 10 seconds like r0m says.

It can take a few tries to get the smoking technique down.
