Two nights ago I was feeling the need for a bit of courage—I decided to pluck some salvia and tobacco leaves to quid. I chew fresh salvia and tobacco often while gardening; this was my first time mixing the two.

As I’ve mentioned in my own teks, salvia can vastly increase uncomfortable sensations. That turned out to be true for imperceptible stimuli as well.

I felt a spicy sensation all over my lips ~15 minutes in. Uncomfortable and painful feelings continued to intensify while the quid came on, even when in deep meditation. The common salviaic feeling of skin crawling melded with nicotine-induced pins and needles; it was as though I had chewed five pieces of nicotine gum instead of one tiny tobacco leaf. Easiest solution was to spit out the quid, sip water, and then keep my eyes shut till it passed. My expectations clearly did not match reality.

It’s been years of use since I last felt this intensity of unpleasantness with salvia—I believe the worst time was when I had smoked 60x while covered in mosquito bites, having patches of skin directly exposed to unfiltered July sunlight.

Perhaps CBD isolate is a better combo.
