A guy posted two YouTube videos on how to due an extraction using charcoal lighter fluid, lye, and MHRB.
I'm just wondering if this is a safe extraction method to use, as I'm a cautious person by nature and just want to be sure.

It may be a spider bite...but still, I'm not a particularly cautious person like the OP, but I still read tons of teks and material for months before extracting. I didn't feel safe with youtube videos.
The most important thing I learned had little to do with the extract. It was to add lye to COLD water and create a solution to add to your acidic soup. I've heard about plenty of lye accidents since I've been here.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend handling lye without chemical-resistant gloves. I also wouldn't recommend doing an extraction without measuring the materials you are using. It might work for this guy, but it makes it a lot harder to troubleshoot if something goes wrong.
I agree: stick to the tried and true teks on the Nexus wiki. There are plenty to choose from.
I think the only real value in this vid is to see the process at work, this isn't a tek by any stretch of imagination and shouldn't be seen as one. Used in conjunction with a tek this vid can be useful to someone who has never done it... purely as a visual representation. Some ppl put photos in their teks, this is just moving photos with a basic explanation. Read a tek, watch a video, go back to the tek.
I can't entirely judge but they sure as hell look like chemical burns. I use NaOH daily and I would NEVER touch the stuff without goggles and gloves. (I personally wear a shield to protect'a my facial skin as well but that's just me. You can only blind yourself once )
You can extract with whatever you please, but in this case I'll allow for an orange juice commercial to offer you guidence (good in, good out).
There are plenty naptha alternatives if you can't find anything, also if you plan on sharing your spice please please please think about what you're putting into their bodies too!
Hell there's even a youtube video for distilling DCM directly out of the can! I know that in the end, we all have a budget, but when it comes to putting a substance into your blood (one way or another) a few extra bucks for quality reagents goes a hell of a long way.

Definitely, a weak acid is always wise to have on hand when working with NaOH. I like the chem resistant sleeves you can snap over your gloves to cover your arms. The downside is how hot evertthing gets when workig with hotplates and mantles. Especially with a respirator >.<
