:?

hi, no it will extract a lot of alkaloids but it wont allow you to freeze them out.

It dosn't evap really, it will eventually but you are talking many days even weeks. What you have there is white spirit, you want white gas, clean lighter fluid,

if you are in the us get v&p naphtha,
aus shellite
uk u-pol fast wipe

elsewhere lighter fluid and perform an evap test on it, so it all evaporates with no residue.

Hope this helps

Peace

Thanks for the Speedy Reply...
I did a 1ml Evap on that Bartline.. 2hours+ evap! but no residue or smell

So ill leave that for a week outside (shed) and see what happens.

Ive already done a few pulls using Newport Lighter fluid...

I'm from UK... I was testing this in place of Xylene because I thought they were pretty much the same (Heavy Naphtha) :?

smokerx, I know nothing about the stuff, but Here is the MSDS

[EDIT] Oh, OK...just saw the bit you added to your post. 8)

Incidentally, the Coleman's Fluid sold in camping centres in UK seems to be completely clean.

Bartoline (as well as B&Q which is also Bartoline re-labelled) is just heavy naphtha. It is usable. Whilst I only used it in a couple of experiments some time ago I found that contrary to what I had heard before that it will freeze precipate (perhaps not as effciently as light naphtha), I even worked with massive excess and still managed to freeze precipate.

Another way of working with it is to salt out to a smaller amount of acid solution, re-base and pull with light naphtha. Maybe if you are using acetic acid you could evap rather than re-base with NaOH or whatever you are using, I couldn't comment on that though as I have never tried that concept.

if you are from the uk, get "U-POL System 20 Panel Wipe Degreaser Fast", its available in most vehicle paint suppliers, its pure hexane and is perfect for the job! is about £12 - £13 for 5 Liters! its quite inexpensive for what it is.

You could google it and find a local supplier :) or just order it form ebay!

I wouldn't use anything else! don't use ASPEN4 its got benzine in it and dosnt evap totally clean.

Hope this helps
