Huh. I am dumbfounded. I used to have a hi-resolution version of this exact same image. I remember starring at it one day realizing it was computer generated. You could tell by looking at the leaves, which were obvious duplicated entities.

I didn't take the the picture myself, but as far as I know it has not been digitally edited. It is just a good picture of a real tree..
Here is a higher-res version of the same tree (but a different picture) which has been digitally altered (saturation etc)
There are a lot of pictures of this tree floating around the internet that look similar but are actually different pictures.
I hope this clears up any confusion, but yet this is a real tree in a real place! (Japanese Garden in Portland).

that's my back yard practically. ive been there many times but i don't re-call this tree. could be that its much smaller than it appears in the pic but the background looks like the Japanese garden for sure.
