Compared to cybs max ion dmt tek, how safe is the process? I've never used most of the chemicals required. Is a gas mask necessary? The tek doesnt mention much on the dangers of the specific chemicals.

You should practice normal laboratory safety procedures when using lye, and especially HCl (muriatic acid).
The xylene especially smells and can give you a headache.
I would wear a mask, gloves, and goggles.

Gotcha. Thank you for the advice. So just a cheap cloth mask will do, instead of like a "breaking bad" respirator mask? Also will open windows and a fan pointed toward them be enough ventilation?Muskogee Herbman said:

I use a n95 mask, when i was in college we used to use markers that used xylene so when people would make these dope marker renderings the studios would just wreak of it, so much so we all wore the n95 masks, some people wore like spray painter masks. I think a regular mask should be fine, its more just so you don't smell nasty things, get light headed, etc. I don't think you particularly wanna inhale HCl vapor either.

You definitely want a mask that can filter the air you're breathing. That xylene stuff is nasty. I don't think I'll ever do it that way again and just go with 69ron's teks instead. the hcl is dangerous and you should know how to safely handle it too. You wouldn't want an open flame anywhere near xylene/toluene vapors either.
69 Ron's Tek is easier and doesn't involve xylene. I usually extract from reduced tea using a modification of Ron's tek with Lye, D-Limonene and Vinegar. It's easy and results in full spectrum mescaline acetate. Not pure mescaline, but it will cap up and hits hard. The D-Limo is a joy to work with. Spill some? Cool! Wipe the counter down with it.

Just be safe and its not a problem. I've done this extraction dozens of times never had an issue. Up to you what tek to do and what you're comfortable with. Kash is my go to for this.

If you've already bought the equipment then you just need a mask, proper ventilation and to be careful. There's Nexians here like Muskogee who will help you through it.

No they wont, but I would perform the HCl portion outside because HCl corrodes just about everything.
When I was in college our studioes had very poor ventilation and just about everyone was using these xylene markers, the whole place completely wreaked of the stuff, but would eventually dissipate. It does not linger
