Every quarter I give away shopping bags of Khat leaves. Thinking I should attempt extraction. I've read heat destroys the alkaloids. So maybe something similar to a coca extraction? Grateful for some feedback.
1. Grind fresh khat leaves
2. Add water saturated with sodium carbonate, to barely moisten ground leaves
3. Cover ground leaves with d-limonene. Mix and let settle.
4. Decant/pipette off d-limonene.
5. Add Fumaric Acid Saturated Acetone to d-limonene
6. Decant d-limonene and retain crystals.
7. Dry crystals.
